This app is exactly what it calls itself, a jigsaw puzzle. The game has over 150 different images and you can create puzzles with your own pictures. There is also a challenge mode which blacks out some of the squares; the hidden areas are revealed every 5 seconds.

The game has a fairly large number of options. You can choose between square or rectangular puzzles and you have the option of plain or the more traditional jigsaw-shaped pieces. To make the game easier, you can lock matched pieces together, snap pieces to the game board, or have a faint guide image behind the board. Each puzzle has eight difficulty levels (five on a phone), ranging from 9 pieces up to 100 (49 on a phone).

I encountered a few minor issues when moving pieces. Sometimes they didn't track my finger properly, and if you had snap pieces to game board turned off and lock pieces together turned on, it was difficult to get the game to recognize the puzzle was finished unless you lined it up on the game board just right, even though all the pieces were stuck together.

I ran this app through Addons Detector and it has only two add on modules, Amazon Licensing, which is to be expected of an app coming from Amazon, and Application Crash Report for Android (ACRA). The latter is probably the reason the app requires Internet permissions.

Ultimate Jigsaw Puzzle HD has more puzzles and more options than Spectrum Puzzles, and it handles a large screen tablet better, but the latter has fewer frustrations when moving pieces around and also allows rotation of pieces, making for a much more challenging game. Spectrum is $1 cheaper, but adding the two image packs to give it the same number of images makes it cost $1 more. Personally I'd choose Spectrum Puzzles over this app, but only by a fairly slim margin.

Nice HD jigsaw puzzle HD pictures being sliced up and scrambled. It is not as easy and you would think and each piece is square shaped or jigsaw shaped and they can get quite complicated with up to 100 pieces on a puzzle. There is a square button with a human head and shoulders shown that is a hint button that will show the original picture briefly. The background of the picture can be the most difficult area to solve just like in a real puzzle.

You can select from animals, flowers, structures, miscellaneous, load your old saved game, load a photo from your tablet gallery, or the challenge mode. Challenge mode which blacks out squares and uses randomized photos from your game. Every 5 seconds a random block will be revealed. You can even use your own photo gallery to make jigsaw puzzles out of them like your home, family pet, vacation photos or family photos. Your children will enjoy this option and so will you. You can save your unfinished puzzles to complete later. There is quite a list of options available when you touch the gear setting button in the lower RH corner.

The game has 8 difficulty levels consisting of:

* Intermediate 5X5
* Advanced 6X6
* Expert 7X7
* Super 8X8
* Extreme 9X9
* Ultimate 10X10

The game also keeps track of your scores and there are basic tutorial instructions and credits available when you touch the information button. The game worked very well on my Kindle Fire and I did not find any issues. I found the game to be a lot of fun and the pictures are of high quality. I loved the concept of using your own photos to enhance the entertainment factor for your family, it is a nice touch. It features over 150 HD photos and when you add in your own photos the number is limitless.

It features different shaped puzzles and you can select for the game to lock matching pieces together to speed up your game play. You should definitely look at the options to select the style of puzzle solving you want to use before you start and just to see the options. I am sure that you will want to try several modes. Touching the pause button allows you to resume, go to the next puzzle, reshuffle pieces, change the shape of the puzzle pieces, go to home, change the difficulty level, set your preferences or save your game progress. You can do this anytime within your game which is a very nice feature. You can save the completed puzzle to your phone; it might even make a nice screen saver.

This is a great app and it works very well and is fun to play. If you like puzzles then you will love this app!

Jigsaw puzzle HD works great both on my Kindle Fire as well as Galaxy tablet that I own. The interface is well thought after and while this does not really work like a true Jigsaw puzzle that one expects in the cardboard/ paper versions but more of moving (sliding) the pieces into places.

The program did have some issues at times in registering finger touch on Kindle Fire and also while the puzzles seemed perfectly complete visually but worked OK until I lined it up on the game board just right, even though all the pieces were stuck together - other than this minor bug the game is perfectly playable.

Love the preview and save options comes in very handy if you want to quick view the puzzle to solve and allows you to start off where you left - Nice!

This game has lot more puzzles that most of the Jigsaw puzzles I have seen and the permissions are just right - surely is a worthy download.

Four Stars!
