These 2 soundtracks, mostly scored by Shigeru Umebayashi, with occassional songs of old by Nat King Cole (Wong-Kar Wai's favorite singer), are moody, dark, romantic music with an edge or bite, kinda like Bernard Herrmann on Vertigo. Nicely done, with interesting dialogue (although in Chinese or Cantonese), makes for a compelling make out music. If you want to entice, lure and seduce someone to go to bed with you - well, you can't go wrong playing these two CDs (and a bargain at that - I got it for $19.99 at Amazon). After a nice dinner, turn the lights low, play these two CDs continously, and . . . a happy ending, compared to what happened to the actual movie. Enjoy.

I deleted about 1/3 of the tracks of both albums because they were too strange or boring, but after I did that they are great to listen to, they really take me back to the ambiance of these movies, which for me, is great. I set both of these albums to loop as I walked around Hong Kong on vacation and was in heaven!
