Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Foghat was an English rock group consisting of "Lonesome" Dave Peverett, Rod Price, Tony Stevens & Roger Earl. They had loads of top charting albums in the 70s & 80s on Bearsville Records. We now start a campaign to reissue their entire catalog in remastered versions. In The Mood For Something Rude originally hit the Billboard charts in 1982.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad Later-Era Foghat, October 16, 2008
I don't think anyone would argue that this is the best album Foghat released, but it's a fair batch of songs from 1982. Some purists accuse Foghat of going "New wave" in the 80s. The reality is that they never stopped being a good rock-and-roll band, staying fairly close to the roots of blues and rockabilly, and never going synth-crazy, as some did in this era. "Slipped, Tripped, Fell in Love" is the catchy lead-off track and single. The cover of Rodney Crowell's "Ain't Livin' Long Like This" is noteworthy and fun. Generally speaking, this is a looser-sounding album with a slightly more R&B flavor. On the other hand, the closing track "And I Do Just What I Want" is an out-and-out rocker. Not where I would start with a Foghat collection, but definitely worth the price of admission.

3.0 out of 5 stars not their best, but still..., August 30, 2008
it's worth it for these songs:
Slipped, Tripped, Fell In Love, Ain't Livin' Long Like, This There Ain't No Man That Can't Be Taught,
and honestly crank this last one up and tell me it's not great: And I Do Just What I Want

1.0 out of 5 stars one of their worst albums!, November 24, 2007
By tim-bobby (Austin, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This is a strange and atypical Foghat album. It doesn't sound like anything else they've done. It is NOT the rock 'n' roll Foghat of the 70's. Their music took a different direction starting with "Tight Shoes" in 1979. "Boogie Motel" was the last album that lead guitarist Rod Price played on until 1994's "Return of the Boogie Men".

When I originally bought this album when it first came out, I was horrified - this wasn't the Foghat I knew and loved. It didn't sound anything like that Foghat of yore. Still, after all these years, I hate this album and think it is their next-to-worst album ever. I gave away all my vinyl years ago, replacing it all with CD but I will never buy this CD!
