Hypnotizing,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Moon Below (Paperback)
I was transported by this story. Everyone I've lent my copy to has read it in a matter of days, not because it's simple, but because they couldn't put it down. I've worn my paperback to shreds. A must read book.

This is one of the best books ever written. I have read it several times and I never lose interest. I would love to see this book made into a movie. I have recommended it to my friends and family. If you are looking for a great book that will enthrall you from the first page, then this is it.

A BEAUTIFUL STORY,
By "neerod" (Sacramento, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Moon Below (Paperback)
This is a beautiful story. I have recommended it to my friends and family. This is the story of Hallie, who travels to the "wilds" of Australia to become the wife of a man she knew briefly as a young girl. Altho she is traveling to the otherside of the world, she sees this as an opportunity to leave the dreariness of her life in England. I admired the independence of Hallie. Though she is dependent on her husband in the beginning, she is strong-willed and determined to succeed in everything she does. This is a story you can't put down and you hate to see end! I love Barbara Bickmore books, but they are hard to find. Check the library and used bookstores! Highly recommended.

The BEST book I've ever read!,

Ms. Bickmore took me to Australia, made me want to be Hallie's best friend, I cried when she cried, sweated when she sweated and hurt when she hurt. I read this book three times, and hate to loan it out for friends to read although I do and the reviews from my friends are high too. It is a book to read if you can get your hands on one. This book made me seek out all of the other books Ms. Bickmore has written. I would very much like to read the ones that are "out of print".

My mother gave me this book to read when I was a young girl. I have never been able to forget it and purchased my own copy recently. I work a lot and go to school, but in my spare time, I always pick it back up and read it wherever I go. I have always admired Hallie and the story of her life and I've never forgotten the lessons that I learned about hard work and perseverance that I read about in this book when I was younger. Though there are some adult scenes, I believe it is an excellent read for young women and teens. The story is very inspirational and Hallie is a woman that we can all aspire to be and that young women can learn from. The story of her life is a breath of fresh air...it sparked a curiosity in me about Australia so long ago and I have always wanted to travel to see it, just as Hallie did. I know that I will one day, and I hope there are still wild, untamed parts of it left to experience. I will miss Hallie when the book is finished...perhaps that is why I'm taking so long to read it. I don't want it to be over!

The Moon Below,
This review is from: The Moon Below (Paperback)
This is one of the best books I've ever read. It fulfilled all my interests, actual history, an exceptional plot & the role of women in the formation of the country. A woman's role is so often ignored, somewhat like a sherpa.
I intend to read everything Bickmore has written. I have purchased several of Bickmore's books for friends & passed my own copy around to everyone I know locally who loves to read. I still frequently think of some of the scenes in it. It would make a great movie.

I picked up this book at a thrift store for pennies. I was getting ready to take a trip and wanted something easy and light to read. On the front page a previous reader had penciled in "Really Great" I thought well its worth a try. First night in my hotel room I started it. From the first pages I knew this was a book I was going to enjoy! I could place myself into the situations Hallie found herself. Now I am searching for other books by this author. From the reviews I have decided I am not the only person who thought this a wonderful read and that others books by Barbara Bickmore are also as interesting. I intend to read every one of her books I can find. My one compaint would be the sexual content at times were a bit much.

A great tale about the beginning of Australia,

This review is from: The Moon Below (Paperback)
In "The Moon Below" writer Barbara Bickmore takes the reader to the early days of Australia and tells the story of young Hallie Thomas, as she travels from England to the land down under to marry a man that she has not seen since childhood. As with any book by Barbara Bickmore, "The Moon Below" truly shows the reader how life in the earlier days of the country so far away was really like. This book should not be missed by any fan of historical romance.
