Making sense of a huge foreign metropolis,

This review is from: Moon Guadalajara: Including Lake Chapala (Moon Handbooks) (Paperback)
Having lived in Guadalajara for four years 35 years ago I knew that the city had grown substantially and I would need a guide book to get around. This book is very complete and up to date, much better than I had expected. I especially like the "Getaways" section that suggests day trips all around the region.

The only book you need,

If you go to Guadalajara, this is the only travel book you need. It provides everything: sightseeing, history details, city maps, daily trips suggestions, places to eat, hotels to stay, and a lot more. Highly recommended!

My husband and I used this book on our recent trip to Guadalajara. It was well worth the money as it was full of great information on things to do and see in Guadalajara and Lake Chapala as well.

I loved the pictures and decriptions of each sight to see. The snippets of history were especially enlightening.
I really liked the chapala section and hope to visit soon.

I ordered this book for my Father in law's Birthday and I ordered it 2 weeks before he was supposed to leave for Guadalajara, unfortunately it arrived the day he got back from the trip. I do not think this was the sellers fault. I gave it to him anyway and he really enjoyed looking through it and gaining lots of knowledge on the places he had been.

An unadorned tourist guide with some depth of history and cultural information.,
This review is from: Moon Guadalajara: Including Lake Chapala (Moon Handbooks) (Paperback)
Moon Guadalajara sticks to the format standard of Moon - black and white, few illustrations and more details on history and culture than a run-of-the-mill tourist guide. Besides the usual practical information (accomodation, eating, transport), the history and cultural sections would appeal to those truly interested in more than partying and looking at sites in Guadalajara. The opinions expressed are clearly personal to the author of each Moon guidebook, even if the format formula is standard. The main drawbacks are the small print and dry aspect of the book - it's almost a chore to read it - and the inadequacy of maps.
