this was my first time using a Moon Guide and i was very pleased. i was impressed with the number of small towns that were included. i found the author's recommendations, from restaurants to sightseeing, to be just as she described them. she was also honest about the "not so great" places. it's a great guide for exploring New Jersey!

This handbook is excellent if you require detailed and accurate information about this specific region. Terrific value!

This book is great. I used it to go to Princeton for the day and it was very helpful with directions and fun things to do there. I like how it gives you things to do that not other publications have mentioned. A great guide that I keep in my car in case I just want to drive with no destination in mind!!

New Jersey. Where to begin? Here is a tiny state that has everything, and is probably best known as a vast suburb of New York City.
Well, you'd be wrong to dismiss this state as a parking lot for Big Apple commuters. You say you like colonial history and architecture? New Jersey is a prime location for both. You like rolling, green, agricultural farmland? Few places in the country are better. Like small villages crammed with trendy shops and restaurants? New Jersey is smothered with them. Like the big city with its art and cultural offerings? Those are here too. The problem is that this guide doesn't cover many of these things well. If ever there was a quick gloss-over of a state, this is it. As an introduction, like "New Jersey for Dummies" this book is effective, but if your interests are specific there are many better choices. Journalist Mark Di Ionno has written several guides to the state that are in depth and personal. Barbara Hudgins still writes the best general guide to New Jersey. Check it out. This book needs to be about twice as thick as it is. |
