TOUCHING LOVE STORY IN THE TROPICS,
By salvacion mendiola ""Island Girl"" (Tinian, CNMI, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Moon Over Manila: A Contemporary Romance (Paperback)
World famous Robert Kraig, a modern day Indiana Jones, falls in love with Edie, a gorgeous Filipina model. Of course, there has to be an antagonist who is an American intern named Heather, who manages to work at screwing up the serious romance between Robert and Edie. Race tells a great story interjected with Fort Santiago, Jose Rizal and the southern PI city of Davao, eventually ending in Los Angeles, with a conclusion as touching as any soap opera. This one should be brought to the big screen. The read alone will require a box of tissues. Good story with wonderful, believable characters, actually very nice people who find themselves in that dangerous lovers' triangle. Well worth a few dollars or pesos. I sent it to a friend in Las Vegas who enjoys romantic stories in other lands.

This book has it all: intrigue, history, romance, interesting characters and a killer story line. Plus, it's just fun to read. Race does his homework and weaves fact into a compelling fictional story. Recommended.

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE,
By
This review is from: Moon Over Manila: A Contemporary Romance (Paperback)
The title holds true to form involving a contemporary romance about an American man (Robert) and a Filipina model (Edie) at Fort Santiago, Manila. It wouldn't be a good love opera without the intern Heather trying to stake her claim on Robert. Besides being a sexy, hot love story, there's plenty of research that went into the novel about the Filipino independence hero Jose Rizal (and his many women)and the early colonial days of the Philippines; and of course, the conflict between the USA and the Philippines after the Spanish-American War. I normally don't buy romance books, but my lady friend put me onto this one; and I've ended buying two of "Moon" for other friends. Lots of interesting sub-characters also. Good story.
