3.0 out of 5 stars Has its great moments, raw talent with a great future
The album opens up very strongly with the upbeat St. Louis Blues, one of the highlights of the album. St. Louis Blues is a cheerful, jazz jam play with wonderful arrangements, piano and vocals.

After St. Louis Blues the results are mixed as Cincotti ventures into different styles and goes from Jazz to Swing to pop ballads. Even if you are flexible enough...

ON THE MOON has not left my CD player since I got it !
This young musician's work has moved me as few others have.
From his take on old favorites....such as I Love Paris and Bali Ha'i
to his wonderful original compositions like the title song and
the deeply touching He's Watching.....to my favorite, I'd Rather
Be With You....Peter Cincotti is not only a musician who is
on top of his many talents, but a man who is in touch with his
feelings and not afraid to reach out and share them with the world through his beautiful, sensitive lyrics and unexpected
melodic turns of phrase. I love the instruments that he has
chosen to respond to his instrumental and vocal lines....
the harmonica and violin come to mind. His choices are often
sweet and playful and after listening to this CD many times over
.....they still surprise my ear in a wonderful way. As much as
I have always loved Up on the Roof......I have never heard the
lyrics interpreted as well as they are by this artist. I REALLY
LIKE THIS CD and I plan on giving it as a gift this holiday
season.

After St. Louis Blues the results are mixed as Cincotti ventures into different styles and goes from Jazz to Swing to pop ballads. Even if you are flexible enough the mix can catch you off guard.

The album has great moments and those are enough to have you excited about's Peter's bright future. He still needs to find a more solid style both musically as well as vocally; but the raw talent is definitively there.

If you would like to try a few tracks, I recommend "St. Louis Blues", "I Love Paris" and "Raise the Roof", if you are in an upbeat mood; and "He's Watching" and "On the roof" if you are in the mood for nice, slow ballads.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive By Any Standards, September 20, 2004

I read some comments about how good Peter's new album is for someone of his age. True but this album is impressive for a singer of any age and experience. I haven't heard such conviction and musicallity in this kind of music since the young Nat Cole and Sinatra. Peter obviously selects songs with lyrics he believes. Where most other young singers try too hard to make their statement, Peter's is a "less is more" interpreter as were most of the greats. This allows this great expression and believability to come through and be felt. I met Peter recently after a concert and his genuine and honest personality were consistant with what I'm hearing in his new album. I look for Peter to go on to be a big star.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm just a girl with an opinion, January 22, 2005

I first heard of this CD the other night on Bravo Channel in Toronto. He has a music video from it called St. Louis Blues. I was immediately drawn to the sound and thought the guy was very good. I bought it the next day quickly to find the whole CD very melodic, jazzy and at times a bit Steeley Dan. The title track can play at your heart strings and would sound great on some finely tuned high end speakers. The entire CD is a very good listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars HE HAS ARRIVED, September 20, 2004
This review is from: On the Moon (Audio CD)
This record really shows how much Peter has grown musically since his first CD. You hear the emotion in his voice throughout the entire record, his piano playing is amazing, and his song writing is particularly touching. The hip hop influenced Bali Hai, the funky St. Louis Blues, the cinematic On The Moon, the poignant He's Watching, and the amazingly virtuosic Cherokee, are all stand out tracks. I can't imagine anyone NOT liking this cd. See for yourself.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pete's not lovelier the second time around, September 19, 2005
This review is from: On the Moon (Audio CD)
We saw Peter Cincotti twice in NYC, and was blown away both times. Bought his first CD and recommended it several times, anxiously awaiting this one.
We couldn't be more disappointed. Cincotti's piano playing is true virtuosity, but his singing just isn't up to where it needs to go. Bali H'ai is one of the most unfortunate choices I have ever heard on an album - almost unlistenable. The rest aren't much better. I'd like to put the onus on his handlers for letting him make this one - I just hope it doesn't sink him, because I still believe he has a great future.

I wrote glowingly of Peter Cincotti's freshman effort and hailed his promise as an artist. I liked ON The Moon but fear he may be going down the Harry Connick "road to nowhere" with this follow-up. Cincotti impressed me with his original compositions and unique take on the classics in his first CD. This effort is more uneven--he shines on the funky "St Louis BLues" and on "I Love Paris". He is very bland and non-descript on "Some Kind of Wonderful and " Up on the Roof". I enjoy his work but can't help but think Cincotti will rise or fall as an artist in a jazz trio/nightclub setting rather than as a Harry Connick wannabee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cross Generational, September 15, 2004
This review is from: On the Moon (Audio CD)
After so much hype about this kid, I recently bought Peter's first CD which I happened to really enjoy. But I certainly did not expect what was to come. "On The Moon" just blew me out of the water. It is clear that peter has found his own voice and has certainly developed tremendously in such a short period of time. This CD crosses over so many different genres of music while maintaining a certain musical continuity. Peter's talents as a pianist, singer, songwriter, and arranger are really overwhelming. All I can say is if you like music, you will love "On The Moon."

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE, September 15, 2004
This review is from: On the Moon (Audio CD)
This is probably one of the best and most innovative CD's I've bought in a long time. It is quite obvious that Cincotti's skills as a pianist are extraordinary, as he displays on such tracks as "I Love Paris" and "Cherokee", but what surprised me and impressed me most about Cincotti's 2nd CD is his skill as a songwriter. I haven't heard such well crafted songs, both musically and lyrically, since the days of the Beatles, early Elton John, Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder. His talent to communicate to the listener is extremely unique, and I highly recommend this CD to anyone who is a music lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, September 24, 2004
This review is from: On the Moon (Audio CD)
This CD is one of my favorites - I keep it on repeat. Peter's singing is so soothing and grows on you the more you listen. His original songs are exquisite, especially Up On the Roof and I'd Rather Be With You. His personality totally comes through. His arrangement for You Don't Know Me is also incredible. Basically, I love the whole thing...especially the sultry sax. I highly recommend this CD to anyone and everyone whether or not they like jazz.
