Heavenly music,

Jivan Gasparian introduces a piece of the Armenian culture into the world with his every record. I guess, what is so particular about this album is that the tunes contained on it are not only beautiful in the musical sense, but also very painful to the Armenian people. Listen to the "7th December, 1988", the day of the terrible earthquake in Armenia... thousands of people dead, thousands buried underneath the fallen buildings of Gyumri and Spitak... The day the nation will never forget. And here flows the sad, painful and still... such a heavenly melody from Gasparian's duduk with a voice singing beautiful lyrics...

This was a refreshingly traditional treat in a world of pop culture domination! Djivan Gasparyan plays some heartachingly beautiful music on this CD. If you close your eyes this music really will bring you back to Eastern Europe many, many years ago to a time where people hadn't forgotten what makes us human. It truly moved me to tears and music, ideally at it's core is about communication. Anything that reminds us of this like this music does is truly worthy of being called a treasure!

Haunting and brilliant!,

I just heard one of Mr. Gasparyan's songs on XM Radio. I purchased this album immediately. You won't be disappointed, every song on this CD is just mesmerizing. Full of emotion, longing, pride, and melancholy. I am absolutely hooked on the duduk now (Middle Eastern type oboe).
If you liked the soundtrack from Gladiator, you will enjoy this CD as well.

This is a remarkable collection of simple and meditative pieces that I use to sink deeply into silence and meditation. It is entrancing music that reminds me of Carlos Nakai, but in a more Middle Eastern key.

This music is absolutely soothing and enchanting. We fall asleep every night with it playing low. I think we sleep better.
