First guide we always pick up,

My wife and I are living in Spain and have traveled all over it. We are now planning a trip to Mallorca and, as usual, the first guide book I reach for is Candy Lee LaBalle's "Spain." The entire book is filled with the usual maps and usual useful information but also contains tons of side articles that enrich a town or anecdotes about a statue or the best things to see, or why Spaniards are so obsessed with jamon. It is packed with information but also has an easy reading style so different than the usual dry guidebooks. It is always the first book we pick up to investigate a new place and the one we take out into the street when we get there.
