5.0 out of 5 stars Space Belongs to The Rich..., February 2, 2011
Bill Kemp, Captain Kemp to his enemies, runs a Moon Ferry. A small ship designed to travel around the Moon, kind of just short hops about, sometimes bringing in dangerous space junk. He ends up in the middle of a plot to bring wealth to the Moon. But the wealth will be controlled by one man, one man who plans to use the wealth to make himself very rich. And he is already very rich to start with.
The book is based on the movie by the same name. The book does a good job up to a point, not changing much of the basic story, but it does play with some of the details. Such as dropping the Evil Guy's two sexy play things and adding another thug to even things out. I would have also liked some fuller descriptions as we are not watching this thing on the big screen, or small screen, we're reading it. If you liked it you could try to get the DVD of the movie, but I doubt you could find it for under 50 dollars.
Or you could try a few movies and/or books that kind of have the same feel to them.
Outland the movie and Planetes (Vol. 1) 2 Disc Special Edition the anime have the hard sci-fi feel that many fans will enjoy, if they enjoyed Moon Zero Two. Kill Station (Space Cops) is the first book in a three book series and The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress is a wonderful stand alone story set on the moon. Cosmic Engineers: A Study of Hard Science Fiction (Contributions to the Study of Science Fiction and Fantasy) is also a book you may be interested in if you are, once again, a fan of the hard stuff. Enjoy!
