Moonalice CD,
This review is from: Moonalice (Audio CD)
Moonalice is a band (Tribe) that has unlimited great talent, and that is proven on their new cd . Their songs are truly a mind traveling experience. Each song takes you somewhere different. There's no one song I can call my favorite, as there ALL great songs. Their music is somewhere between the Grateful Dead and Steve Earl with some old school 60's/70's San Francisco style added in. Even a little jazzy too. I find myself listening to this cd just about every day. Anyway I recommend for everyone to listen to this cd .I'm sure you will be amazed and glad you bought this cd.Chuck (zigzagman)

I stumbled across this CD while checking out one of my fav bass players; Jack Casady. When I saw his name attached to it, I knew it had to be cool. Although it has a changing lineup it keeps the groove for the whole side. Haunting melodies; most all with a strong bass line and some excellent vocals. As you can see, it has some awesome artwork as well. A very cool addition to the juke.radio

While some of the musicians on the album are talented, they can't overcome the horrendous song writing and vocals. Nice artwork on the cover though.

This a very good album, with a wide variety of styles, and it's not just one or two good songs with a lot of filler. I'm not really sure how to fit a category to this CD due to the range of music that it covers. The musicianship is great throughout. It's actually the variety that keeps me from rating it higher. I like a wide range of music, and this album delivers, but a couple of the songs stray a bit too much out of my tastes. It isn't like this is a bad thing, but given how much I like some of the songs on this album it makes me want more songs in a similar vein.

Moonalice concerts are rumored to be excellent, so I was a little dissappointed in the CD. A couple of good songs, but nothing to write home about. Then I put on the DVD. The same songs with graphics. Then I clicked on the extras and found a couple of video tracks. The second track was about twelve minutes of the band jamming in the studio. This track alone is probably worth the price of admission. I will definately look for a Moonalice concert in the area. The CD sound quality is excellent and the DVD may be recorded in DVD-A.

Moonalice is a talented group that mixes their singers to their song styles in a wonderful, captivating way. The musicianship is excellent. Highly recommend this album to someone looking for a truly alternative sound that really does not fit a category.

Moonalice's debut harkens back to a time when world was a simpler place and musicians played what they wanted rather than chase a passing fad in order to secure a hit. Oddly enough, Moonalice does whatever it wants and the results can be measured by the honed song craft present on this album. Moonalice is a group that comprises former SNL guitarist, G.E. Smith, Roger McNamee, his wife Ann McNamee, Pete Sears and Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane. Moonalice trades in soft Californian folk rock with a psychedelic twist that wouldn't be out of place next to your copy of a David Gates or America album. Standout tracks on the album include, "Dusty Streets of Cairo" and "Kick It Open."
