Book Description

June 5, 2009
Writer and illustrator, Gina C. Browning, says some of the verses in her poetry book first came to her in her dreams as she was recovering from surgery years ago. The poems and illustrations in Moonbeam Dreams gradually evolved into “a keenly rhymed, fantastical romp through a fantasy land, with weird and wonderful characters for readers of any age to enjoy.” Her poetry truly is for the young at heart. Browning thinks her dreams are fun and adventurous, as she always looks for the positive side to everything. Her book encourages children not to be afraid of the dark, and to believe in themselves and their abilities so that almost anything is possible. Browning says dreams can come true “either in daylight or night” if you believe in them strongly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging and fantastical pictures encourage imagination January 27, 2010
Format:Paperback
Moonbeam Dreams by Gina Browning is a sweetly rhyming tale perfect for bedtime. First Mia's review: I liked the rhyming. Here is one of my favorites: And I'll tell you a secret to add to your fun- just wiggle your ears or curl up your tongue...The book was all about dreams, and I want to dream like that from now on! She said "don't be concerned" a little too often. My favorite page was the one about the critters who eat Vegemite, but I had to ask my mom what that was! Her pictures were very colorful! Now my review: At first, I was a little put off by the ratio of words to pictures in Moonbeam Dreams, but Browning's eloquent turn of phrase and fast rhyming kept the pages turning quickly and kept Mia rapt. She was very fascinated by the munchers and crunchers and created her own story just about that one page! I think that's what the author is trying to encourage with this book. She wants children to feel free to dream without limitation or hesitation (she's got me rhyming now!) and to let their imaginations run wild. While perfect for nighttime reading and sending a little one off to dreamland, this is also an excellent read for daytime when a child can spend time examining each page and using it as a springboard for their imagination. It's a pleasure for both parents and their kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful and Engaging January 27, 2010
Format:Paperback
With delightful rhyme and engaging illustrations, Browning captures readers -- whether you're the adult who gets to narrate or the child who gets to experience the telling.

The colors jump off the page and the words flow between them, making poetry something that's experienced with multiple senses.

From mermaids to butterflies, under the sea to over the moon, Moonbeam Dreams awakens and nurtures the most beautiful part of childhood.

I can't wait until the next time I get to read this book to my girls. There's no danger of this book getting given away, except as a new copy, purchased as a gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Kids @ Teens Read Too January 29, 2010
Format:Paperback
This is a beautifully illustrated book that rhymes its story about dreams and fantasyland and the many things we may encounter there.

I loved it! The rhymes were really awesome and the illustrations are so bright and go right along so well with the story!

Ms. Browning, the author, mentions that the verses in her poetry book first came to her in her dreams as she was recovering from surgery years ago!
