5.0 out of 5 stars A Godsend for Parents
I wasn't sure about this book at first, I didn't think my son would like a book with no pictures. But after the first week of reading this just before he went to sleep, he started asking specifically for it. He even asks for other stories that he can close his eyes and just listen to. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure of the audience for the stories...
Beautifully written short visualizations but we kind of miss out on where the meditation comes into play. I have a four and ten year old and the book doesn't really apply to either age group. I was hoping for a little more guidance in teaching my children to meditate. I think this book is for kids who have the basics of meditation down and would just like another avenue...

I wasn't sure about this book at first, I didn't think my son would like a book with no pictures. But after the first week of reading this just before he went to sleep, he started asking specifically for it. He even asks for other stories that he can close his eyes and just listen to. His creativity is showing itself in so many ways, now. And as an added bonus, he actually looks forward to bedtime.

I encourage every parent to try one of Ms Garth's meditation books.

5.0 out of 5 stars great even for an 8 year old, November 30, 2004

I just found this book on my book shelf. I bought it years ago and forgot about it. I've been reading it to my 8 year old (almost 9 year old) son who is often quite anxious and has trouble falling asleep. He absolutely loves it. He asked me tonight if he could have it for his own kids when he has them and wants to read it to them starting when they are babies. How's that for a testimonial? I also really enjoy reading it to him. It's a relaxing, special time for us and seems to be bringing us closer to each other, after just a few nights of reading it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, July 28, 2001

I had high hopes for this book when I first purchased it, and I wasn't disappointed. I am a classroom teacher in a testing grade. I thought a little meditation would help my students relax. I knew they were tense about taking upcoming tests. This book helped me relax them, and opened up a door to something they had never done before in the classroom. They eagerly anticipated the next journey we would take in our daily meditation efforts. This book has wonderfully detailed descriptions and uses all kinds of imagery. It is beautifully spiritual without being specifically religious.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Childhood Memory, November 8, 2006
By
This review is from: Moonbeam: A Book of Meditations for Children (Paperback)
My parents read this book to me when I was a kid, and I'm astonished how much it affected my life. It helped spur my imagination, it allowed me to think of stories before bedtime, instilled in me a love of nature, and allowed me to meditate freely today! I'm now in my first year of college and seeing this book again reminds me how GOOD it felt to hear the stories and visualize them. I can still remember plenty of imagery, like the Worry Tree, and the smiling flowers...And I think they visit the Easter Bunny at some point?

I also want to point out that I'm not Christian, and my family isn't Christian, which was a concern I think I saw in another person's review. The guardian angel part meant a lot to me as a kid, because I didn't subscribe to any real belief system, but it was nice to feel like someone was watching over me. Just my own opinion though!

I dunno. Anyways, as someone who grew up with Moonbeams, I highly recommend this as a great time to spend with your children before bed. I just love all the fond memories I have of it, truly! And because it was so great I figured I'd offer another perspective to the reviews: that of an enchanted child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, May 4, 2005
This review is from: Moonbeam: A Book of Meditations for Children (Paperback)
So one of the reviews said that they immediately returned the book because of the introduction of angels. Well, we skipped the angel reference when we first used the books but I have since integrated it into our nightly meditation sessions with my kids. We are not Christian and don't really use "angels" as spiritual guides at all, but I do tell my kids that passed family members watch out for them and now have used the word "angel" to describe it. I wouldn't let something like the use of angels dissuade anybody from using this book!! My kids BEG for it each night (8 and six years old) and I have begun to use it with my toddler. It has helped with my oldest child's nightmares where nothing else would and has sparked some tremendous creativity in other areas with all my children. I highly recommend this book as well as the others by the author. I cannot give enough praise here!!

5.0 out of 5 stars a wonderful book that encourages imagination..., December 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Moonbeam: A Book of Meditations for Children (Paperback)
as well as relaxation :-) i quite honestly do not remember how i came about this book, but i can say that it is one of my oldest son's most loved books for bedtime reading (he's 5). ever since we started reading these meditations (about 2 years ago), bedtime has gone smoother and is less of a fight for the both of us. he likes it when i read more than one 'story' so we've taken to shortening the star prelude enough to where it still conveys the message of relaxation, but allows for more 'story' time. i could go on and on, but i would be rambling. let's leave it at this is a great book and i would recommend it highly :-)

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Moonbeam: A Book of Meditations for Children (Paperback)
When I first saw this book, I was not entirely impressed, but after a single night of reading it, I think it is great! When I read it, I got a wonderful picture in my mind, and the topics are really relaxing (The Rabbit is my favorite so far). I have found that I also seem to sleep better. I think that it was written really well! I would reccomend this book to anyone who is looking for a super before-bed read.

I bought this book a few weeks ago for my very anxious 7 year old daughter. I read her one of the meditations last night and was delighted with it. We had watched a movie that scared her a little and this helped put her in a better frame of mind to go to sleep. She told me this morning she liked it and it was relaxing. I plan on using this often with her and my other two children. I enjoyed it as much as she did!

5.0 out of 5 stars More than 5 stars!, May 3, 2011
This review is from: Moonbeam: A Book of Meditations for Children (Paperback)
I have a 7 year old that is a bit clingy and doesn't like the dark. She still enjoys my stories of angels kissing her forehead once she's asleep. I'm not that creative though and ran out of peaceful and serene stories to ease her into a mystical dreamland. I came across this book at the library and felt it would be perfect for her since I've been attempting to teach her from my own adult meditation books. This was the everything I could hope for and more.

The stories immediately take you into calmness and make visualization easy even if the children do not know what visualization is.
The stories offer a safe and magical vibe that even had ME wishing I was "there".

I am on Amazon to purchase all the books I can by this gifted author, she understands the tenderness of children's souls and how important it is to ease their fears.

This book is beautiful in every way, I can't describe what a wonderful feeling it leaves you with:-)
