Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

The seventh Bear adventure has the much-cherished ursine hero inviting the moon to cut a rug. Ages 4-6.
Copyright 1994 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-- Asch's naive little Bear continues his fascination with things celestial. This time he wants to dance with the moon but thinks she is too special to bother with him. In the end, the moon comes down to Earth, reflected in a puddle, and Bear has his dance. There is nothing new here--it's a simple story simply told, complemented by illustrations with flat shapes and colors and few extraneous details. Yet Bear has an innocence, and the stories about him a sense of quiet, satisfied joy that continues to charm. --Karen James, Louisville Free Public Library, KY

5.0 out of 5 stars A great childrens book, June 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Moondance (Library Binding)
This has always been one of my favorite chidrens books. I lovereading about bear and bird trying to dance with weather. The authoris very creative describing things such as when the fog comes bear thinks he dancing with the clouds. My little brother has also loved this, and he hardly likes any books. I also love it when the moon reflects of the puddle left by the rain, and he thinks he's dancing with the moon. This will always be one of my favorite chidrens books of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Childrens' Book Ought To Be, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Moondance (Moonbear Books) (Paperback)
Moondance is a simple story that children (mine at least) seem to absorb and enjoy. There is nothing frilly about this book compared to much of what is on the market, but the story embeds a few very positive messages for kids - appreciate what you have, be conscientious, reach out to others - in a way that is thoughtful and resonates with the human experience at all ages. The illustrations are simple but do a great job of telling the story for pre-readers. Moondance has become my 2.5-year-old's favorite book. There is more text in this book than in any of her other favorites, but she has memorized every line. There is definitely an intangible here that has grabbed her attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Meteorology in miniature, November 11, 2003
This review is from: Moondance (Moonbear Books) (Paperback)
This book tells the story of a bear who wants to make friends with the moon. Over the course of the day, the bear observes and plays with the moon, clouds, fog, and rain. The bear is very well behaved- -he helps out around the house and eats his dinner when he is supposed to. He faces disappointment when he doesnt always get what he wants, but he learns to appreciate what he gets. This is a delightful little story (about 750 words), that contains nothing likely to incite anxiety amongst youngsters.
