4.0 out of 5 stars Got a kid who can't sleep?
This is a second wonderful collection to help a restless little one make it through the night. As a dad whose children can't seem to get through the night without a little help, Herdman's collection of just beautiful tunes is truly a godsend. I can't recommend this CD enough. My boy, going on 6 has listen to this and to Stardreamer since he was 2, and still loves them...

2.0 out of 5 stars Music to Put You to Sleep
I'm a children's librarian, so I listen to and review a lot of children's music as part of my job. Priscilla Herdman's voice is better than most children's singers' because she avoids that goofy cute sound so many children's singers have. Her voice has the same clear, high quality that her fellow folksinger Judy Collins has.

However, in all honesty, I have to say this...

AND best of all, these are wonderful, loving tunes, with no tie in cartoons or (thankfully) action figures!

4.0 out of 5 stars Such a rich voice, September 26, 2005
This review is from: Moondreamer (Audio CD)
Ms. Herdman's voice is so rich and lovely. Her selections of songs on this CD is varied and delightful. The harmonies are well done, and the accompaniment is perfection. I don't have children, although I teach. and find this CD can mellow a room, and bring children to quite conversation without any effort on my part. They love to sing along, as do I.

When we had our first child in 2002, we received Stardreamer. We liked it so much, we took a chance on Moondreamer as well. Stardreamer is our favorite, but we love both, and the two have become our standard gifts for new parents. The songs are nicely sung, our kids like them, but they are tollerable as adults, even after the 1000th time.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars a bedtime classic, May 22, 2011

Every new mommy and daddy needs this cd in their collection. Priscilla Herdman created these(Star Dreamer)collections for her own little one. Her lovely voice is so comforting and she has just the right accompanyment to round them out. They were a bedtime favorite for my little girl's entire childhood. She is a teenager now and still listens to them when the world is crashing down on her. You can't do wrong with this, I actually owned this before I was married, let alone a mommy.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Dreams Of Childhood.... and, May 7, 2010
This review is from: Moondreamer (Audio CD)
Sometimes you find out about a singer straight up, through a record, on the radio, a concert, or..."YouTube". Sometimes the route is more circuitous. That is the case here with singer/songwriter Priscilla Herdman. I first hear her doing a duet with the old Wobblie, singer/storyteller/ folk historian Utah Phillips on his song "I Remember Loving You". Of course, for this old folk devotee anything or anyone that has Phillips' imprimatur on it bears further investigation. That is part of the reason that I know about the work of Kate Wolf, for one.

So here we are. And what we have with this presentation are lullabies and other "soft" songs for adults and ...children. Well, that is okay, too. Sometimes this is just the kind of "dreamy" music that fits those moments just before slumber time, for adults and kids alike. The best to do just that are "John O' Dreams", "Moon And Me", and "Stars On The Water".

5.0 out of 5 stars Moon Dreamer, June 3, 2000
This review is from: Moondreamer (Audio CD)
Pricilla Herdman's album Star Dreamer was the first recording I purchased for my grandson. He will be 3 this month and it is still the music he goes to bed listening to each night. Moon Dreamer is equally enjoyable. It's an album that children, family and friends can sing along with and be amused at the very clever lyrics. You won't be disappointed with any of her albums for children. They make great gifts for new parents.

This album will enchant both the child and the parent. A must-have for all!! Don't pass up an oppurtunity to hear such a beautiful collection of songs sung by an equally amazing voice.

However, in all honesty, I have to say this album is pretty dull. We have it in our library, but the children don't check it out. I think, this is because the song selection doesn't appeal to them. The songs just aren't "catchy." A parent might be able to use this album to put a child to sleep. Whether this is because the songs are soothing, or merely boring is the question.
