5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Definitive CD for Starbuck Fans
I received this UK-made CD from an Amazon seller, and it is an outstanding reissue, very much like the work that Raven (Australia) does. The two Private Stock label Starbuck albums here sound better than ever - original master versions, and the bonus tracks (two non-LP single sides from 1977) are supposedly taken from vinyl, but also sound great. The booklet is a fold-out...

In response to the above review. This CD is not mine. It is another bogus
import and I have nothing to do with it. The official CD is for sale right
here on Amazon. I also have nothing to do with the CDs that are over $50.
They are also bogus releases from another foreign company. Bruce Blackman

The booklet is a fold-out with the full covers of both albums, as well as credits, band photos, a 1976-77 Starbuck discography, and even the lyrics to the song "Moonlight Feels Right".

The single a-side from summer 1977, "One Of These Mornings", appears on the "official" Starbuck CD release, but only in a short excerpt as it was released on the Rock n'Roll Rocket album. Here, it is the full single version, in stereo like all the other tracks. The other bonus track, "Gimme A Break". sounds like a hit, with marimba solo and all. It was the b-side to "Everbody Be Dancin" in early 1977.

This is on the Broadside label (a subsidiary of the UK label Cherry Red) and the item number is "Stern 2". There are no remixes here, no demos, just the original classic albums from the master tapes, plus the two bonus singles, which altogether is the complete Starbuck on the Private Stock label. Note: the "Official Starbuck" CD, also available on Amazon, used the same front cover art as this CD, but is a compilation of tracks from Starbuck/Korona albums and singles, with many of them remixed and altered.

Now if only someone would release the 3rd Starbuck album "Searching For A Thrill" and the 4th (under the name "Korona") which were released on the United Artists label in 1978 and 1980.

4.0 out of 5 stars Starbuck controversy?, April 18, 2009

It seems Bruce Blackman is upset about his group STARBUCK and the release of some of their music. To begin with, everyone knows the best thing about STARBUCK is "Moonlight Feels Right". Hands down, the best version of this is on the "official" STARBUCK release. The 2009 Remix is a nice added bonus, but is probably 20 years late...interesting and fine remix that it is. The "Official" release implies with it's cover that the first two albums are included...not the case. It is suposed to be the best of the three STARBUCK albums, but is missing "It Feels Good", a single that may have not charted but was one of their best. The import version has almost the exact same artwork (Bruce, who ripped off who?) and includes the full first 2 albums as well as bonus single tracks. Bruce says these are all demo versions. I have the "Very Best of" and there is only one demo version on that compilation. Just because Bruce may not have overseen the remastering of the other compilations doesn't make them inferior or illegal. Bruce did a FINE job remeastering the "officiak" compilation. Who remastered the import version? Was it from the original master tapes or cheaply done off vinyl? Anyone who can answer these questions would be greatly appreciated. By the way, the "official" release has NO booklet, and is in a thin jewel case without even back artwork. That, I don't understand, either. I know this is more of a review of the "official" Starbucks release. I am wondering if anyone has the "official" and this one and can compare quality as well as selection.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have waited for years for this CD, December 16, 2010

I had the vinyl record of "Moonlight Feels Right" and waited for years for it to come out in the CD format. I gave up and only just recently checked to see if it is now available. I am glad I purchased it because it brings back fond memories. You don't have to be a fan of soft rock or southern rock to love the music of Starbuck.

I picked up this CD hoping to own both of the LPs that Starbuck had recorded for Private Stock. I got my wish, but was severely disappointed when I realized that the CD did not use the original master tapes. This was most evident on the songs from "Rock 'N' Roll Rocket" and the bonus songs. It would be nice to own a CD with clean versions of "Bordello Bordeaux" and "Little Bird".

1.0 out of 5 stars On time Delivery?, March 25, 2009
This review is from: Moonlight Feels Right/Rock 'N' Roll Rocket (Audio CD)
This item was originally scheduled for release in early March 2009, then changed to March 24. As of today (March 25), the release is now TENATIVELY scheduled for April 9.

Bruce Blackman, the lead singer and songwriter from Starbuck has complained on Amazon that the MP3's and other CD's on this are illegal, unlicensed and bogus. Further, to purchase the original CD is over $50.

Mr. Blackman, if you can't get your product to market on time, just keep it.
