4.0 out of 5 stars The Moonlight Man, by Betty Ren Wright, June 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Moonlight Man (Hardcover)
Author Betty Ren Wright has once again produced a gripping story that is certain to delight young mystery lovers. Centered around a family, a neighborhood, and a 50-year-old community secret, 15-year-old Jenny Joslin and her 6-year-old sister Allie set out to resolve the haunting that begins practically the very moment they move into their little house on the edge of the woods. Jenny befriends April, a talented violinist living next door who hears a woman's wailing coming from her basement. Together, the girls piece together the answers to the puzzle of the ghost they name the Moonlight Man. This carefully crafted mystery captures the reader's attention on the first page and steadily builds in suspense until the last. A sizzler!

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining ghostly read, August 1, 2006
This review is from: The Moonlight Man (Paperback)
Jenny Joslin, her sister Allie, and their father have moved from place to place ever since their mother died. They now have moved to Crescent Lane, and Jenny instantly feels like she is at home. But, things aren't as they appear; she and her sister see a ghost they call the "moonlight man" in their new backyard. Soon after that, Jenny and Allie encounter a sequence of paranormal events. Their new snobby self-centered neighbor, April, becomes frighten by an unexplained crying in her basement. While Jenny is busy playing `mom' at her house and to her family, she also manages to investigate the strange occurrences at Crescent Lake.

I enjoyed this book greatly. I adored the character of Jenny, she was quite the hero. She never gave up, on her investigation or her family. While the ending left a little more to desire, especially what happens to Jenny and her family. The story of the ghosts was a little weak, but it did not take away the pleasure of the book. Overall it was pretty good and entertaining. I highly recommend this to Wright's fans, and other mystery/scary book fans, young or old.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ghost In The Cresent, November 23, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Moonlight Man (Hardcover)
The Joslins move into the cresent. They have a couple of neighbors and they are mr. and mrs.Carpek, Cathy and Mike Burton,
and mr. and mrs.Danner and their daughter, April. Jenny and her little sister, Allie, were looking outside and saw a shadow of a man and a dog. They thought it was scary. They see the shadow of a man and a dog a lot. As the story goes on more mysterious things happen. This is a really good book. When I was reading it i didnt want to put it down. You should read Moonlight Man. It is a really good book.

Fifteen year old Jenny Joslin and her six year old sister, Allie, have been on the move quite a bit: seven times in five and a half years. But no place has been quite as charming and yet as curious as their new house on the end of Crescent Lane. After all, in what other neighborhood, would a young man and his dog mysteriously appear and disappear. And in what other neighborhood would you discover that odd things are happening not only at your house but your neighbors' houses as well. Finding clues to these disturbances leads Jenny not only to the discovery of a fifty year old secret, but also what it means to be truly part of a neighborhood. The Moonlight Man is a nice read that might give a goosebump or two...

The Joslin Family, Jenny, Allie, and Bill a.k.a. Dad, have a lot of trouble finding the right house after the girls' mother dies. When they finally find a house they all like, the last thing that needs to happen to them does - they have to share their new house with a ghost. When strange things start to happen, 15 year old Jenny is right on the case. The trouble is no one wants to help or believe her, and if she tells her dad they will probably have to move again. This is an amazing book that will keep you guessing until the last page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mysterious Things in the Crescent, December 4, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Moonlight Man (Hardcover)
I think that this is one of the best books ever. I think you should buy this book if you like horror books. There were 2 families that moved in to the "crescent". The first family's names were Jenni, Allie, and their dad. The next family's names were April and her parents. Some really mysterious things happen to the Carpeks, the Burtons, the Joslins, and to April and her parents. So if you are ready for a really scary book buy this book. By Nick
