4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly Christopher!
Christopher has summed up my major compaint with this CD. While the "Moonlighting Theme" makes it worth buying alone, I would give anything to have the instrumental music that accompanied David and Maddie's angsty moments (it was played a lot in season three). I was also surprised that "Be My Baby" was not included, since Moonlighting fans probably...

The music selections included are all 5 stars, especially "Blue Moon" and "I told Ya I love ya, know get out," however my problem isn't with what was included but rather whats missing from thgis soundtrack. The whole album, on a little over 30 minutes in length, has lots of room left for some major music from Monnlighting that's missing. First and foremostwhere is the original version of the theme song. The original version of the Moonlighting theme features in the 1985 to 1987 seasons is jazzy and fun, not that the pop version is any less, but there is no reason why it shouldn't have been included. Second, where are songs like the Ronette's "Be My LItle Baby" from "I Am Curios Maddie" when Maddie and David finally quench their passion. How about Billie Joel's "Big Man On Mulburrey Street" from the episode of the same name? Also, what also detracts from the album is the lack of any off the shows beatiful music, or the haunting piano selctions used for the "dramatic" moments. That music played such a major role that the soudtrack seems vacant without it. I think that maybe the shows producer, (and albums) Glen Gordon Caron rushed this album out to cash in when Moonlightinh was at its hottest. All in all a good album, but there should be alot more to it.

Christopher has summed up my major compaint with this CD. While the "Moonlighting Theme" makes it worth buying alone, I would give anything to have the instrumental music that accompanied David and Maddie's angsty moments (it was played a lot in season three). I was also surprised that "Be My Baby" was not included, since Moonlighting fans probably most associate that song with that famous Moonlighting scene. I will give it fours stars, however, because it does have some good ones like "Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Stormy Weather." It is a little disappointing though because it could have been better (but hey, so could Moonlighting's fourth and fifth seasons).

4.0 out of 5 stars More tracks would make it a better collection, September 16, 2004

I still own the original vinyl lp of this soundtrack, I bought it in 1989 and still enjoy listening to it whenever i feel like relaxing to some good music. It features several highlights such as a rare Bruce track his fans cant find anywhere else and two lovely ones from Cybill. Its a pity, however, the compilers didn't include more songs from the show. I remember I made myself my own Moonlighting special edition on tape, over 25 years ago. I added some missing tracks I already owned somewhere (Nasty, West End Girls, Man on M.Street, All The Way) which did feature on a few crucial episodes but had been taken off the final compilation and I used to listen to it on my walkman whilst on holiday. Lets hope they release a fleshier remastered edition of this album, in the meantime buy this just the way it is. You won't get disappointed!

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Soundtrack, February 22, 2006
The soundtrack to the television series Moonlighting is worth purchasing for Al Jarreau's superb title theme alone. It is one of Mr. Jarreau's finest performances and one of the most elegant theme songs in music history. The soundtrack also contains some Motown songs that were included on several episodes as well as two standards sung by Cybil Shepherd that were included on episode that included a dream sequence back to the 40's and Bruce Willis' version of "Good Lovin'" that probably unfortunately led to his own full length album, The Return of Bruno.

This album will remind you why you fell in love with the show - the title track and Cybill's 2 numbers from the black and white retro episode are worth the price of the CD in themselves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good.....but could have been so much better!, June 22, 2008

Although this has the songs most will look for: Al Jarreau's great theme song, Cybill Shepherd's big band numbers, Bruce Willis' great cover of "Good Lovin'", "This Old Heart of Mine" by the Isley Brothers, etc; it's what's missing that makes this soundtrack incomplete. The following should have been on, and anyone who can download an mp3 can get creative, and complete this set for their library:

Tighten Up: Archie Bell & the Drells

Respect: Aretha Franklin

I Was Made To Love Her: Stevie Wonder

La Bamba: Richie Valens

Chain Gang: Sam Cooke

Psychedelic Shack: The Temptations

Devil With a Blue Dress: Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels

Be My Baby: The Ronettes

If You Really Love Me: Stevie Wonder

Big Man On Mulberry Street: Billy Joel

Just My Imagination: The Temptations

Is This What I Get For Loving You: The Ronettes

Maybe they couldn't get all the rights to the above to include them all, but what was released just left fans of the show wanting more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moolighting soundtrack is the best, September 29, 2005
This is an absolutely fantastic CD. After buying the Moonlighting DVDs, I had to have the soundtrack. You get to enjoy songs by great singers like Billie Holiday and The Isley Brothers. You also get to listen to Bruce Willis' version of "Good Lovin'" and Cybill Shepherd's versions of "Bluemoon" and "I Told Ya I Love Ya, Now Get Out". If you're a fan of the show, you'll be a fan of this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Effort by Bruce Willis & Cybill Shepherd, July 8, 2011

I loved Moonlighting when it ran in the late 1980's on TV. It was an innovative, rule breaking, super talented effort of a lot of creative people who worked their collective butts off to leave us with an original one of a kind production. Bruce Willis in his star making debut, Cybill Shepherd struggling along with a group of brilliant writers to produce one for the ages. The music was great . . . used to produce episodes of enhanced originality. Used to accent scripts and scenes of pure joy for we the audience. Oddly, my favorite episode using Billy Joel's Big Man On Mulberry Street is missing from this soundtrack. I assume since it was a dance number/dream sequence thingy it was not included. Still you have the two great numbers by Cybill Shepherd, Blue Moon and I Told Ya I Love Ya Now Get Out, and Burce Willis doing Good Lovin in the Atomic Shakespeare episode. And of course there is the series theme song Moonlighting sung by Al Jarreau which became a big hit. All in all a great soundtrack and worth every cent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moonlighting is one of the most clever TV shows ever made, April 22, 2009
The soundtrack is not so bad either. Al Jarreau nailed the theme song! The soundtrack, like the show, makes you smile, laugh, and feel good all over.
