5.0 out of 5 stars Emo at it's finest..., March 7, 2003
By
This review is from: Moonlighting (Audio CD)
As you may or may not know, Too Bad Eugene is the remainder of the former emo-punk/pop-punk group Craig's Brother (which I also recommend you buying). A bio that has appeared on Too Bad Eugene's website describes the punk-pop trio's members as married men who have full-time day jobs outside of music and play rock on the side. In fact, this CD is called Moonlighting because singer/bassist Adam Nigh, guitarist Andy Snyder and drummer Sammy Nigh are, to quote the bio, "family guys who moonlight as musicians." Some of rock's more rigid and dogmatic thinkers might call them sellouts, but in reality, they're the opposite of sellouts--if anything, having careers outside of music lets them be more creative, not less. How? When one has a high-paying job as a neurosurgeon, plumber or computer programmer and doesn't rely on music to pay the bills, he/she has the luxury of being less marketable. This CD is excellent, all the songs rule, and it has true dept and meaning to it. I can't think of a reason not to buy this, but if you're hestitant, listen to some samples and decide for yourself whether or not you'll like it, all I'm saying is that I liked it, and I think you should buy this now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Craig's Brother, December 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Moonlighting (Audio CD)
I have been a big fan of Craig's brother (Adam and Andy's former band) and especially appreciated Andy's songwriting with CB, and as such I have found Too Bad Eugene a lot different, which I guess is their aim, so that is good... Just as the guitar in CB was a highlight so too is it in this album.
