5.0 out of 5 stars Verona Style Solar Lights
These lights are fantasic for the price, made of pretty sturdy products and serve their purpose very well. They leave a very pretty pattern on the ground when lit too. Very easy to assembly and install.

I was searching for some good solar path lights but the selection in the local stores was pretty picked-over in September. These lights were being sold by Amazon at $30 for 10 lights--I wondered how good they could be since this was cheaper than the price of a rechargeable battery. I ordered them on speculation. They arrived promptly. I pre-charged the batteries and carefully inserted them in the ground along my garden path. That night I determined that 9 of the 10 worked pretty well; the tenth was dead (tried different known-good battery). They don't throw off much light but they do exactly what I wanted--highlight the border of my garden path. With the shorter days and lower sun angle, the lights that don't get much sun are barely illuminating but this doesn't surprise me. Overall, a decent value for what I wanted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't be beat for the price, August 5, 2009

This review is from: Moonrays 91225 Verona Style Solar Powered Plastic Path Light, Black, 10 Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
These are plastic, light weight solutions to patio and path lights. I have bought 3 sets of them so that I ended up with some extras. I have them in all sorts of places - some of which get no direct sun. They have all worked great. I don't expect them to last for years and I know that I will have to replace the batteries [easy to do]. But for the price, these are great! They come well packed and are very easy to assemble. Within minutes from opening the box you can get them placed around the yard so that you can start enjoying them.

If you are looking for small path lights just for the purpose of lighting a walkway or path. You can stop looking because these little babies will do the trick. They are made of molded plastic, and they do give enough light to prevent injury and this soft light lasts all night on a single charge. I personally would have liked the anchors that into the ground to be a little longer, but never the less they do the trick and they are inexpensive.

update 2: after about a year or there about nearly all of the lights have failed.

update: After about a month, some of the lights fail within an hour of dark. The solar panels are inset by a fraction of an inch, allowing debris and sand to collect and block the solar cell. This causes incomplete charging of the batteries, which eventually contributes to over-draining of the batteries, cutting their life short.

Most of the solar powered lights I've seen / used have the solar panel set flush or slightly above the plane of the rest of the top so debris cannot collect there and block the panel.

They are fairly bright and easy to place, all parts are made of plastic, though.

========= original review:

I bought a set of these to finish off the yard. They work fairly well. I've had them up for a few weeks, they still run all night on their daily sun. As long as you remember that they need sunlight, and make sure they get most of the mid-day sun, they seem to last all night. Right now, mine get about 6 to 8 hours of good direct sunlight each day, and run over 10 hours.

These are LED lamps, which run on batteries, charged by the sun. The better exposure to direct sun they have, the longer they last. Keep the cells clean.

Do not expect them to be as bright as halogens, etc. These are easily visible from over 100yds away, though not truly bright. On dark nights they can be helpful, on full moons they are a nice accent.

Be ready to replace batteries about every year or so. Having easy to replace batteries is a big plus. AA NiCD are not hard to find. I recommend charging whatever replacements you get in a "smart charger" (to be sure the cells are all good) before installing.

5.0 out of 5 stars good and cheap solar lights, December 19, 2009

This review is from: Moonrays 91225 Verona Style Solar Powered Plastic Path Light, Black, 10 Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I wanted some cheap solar light tolight up my yard without adding to my electricity bill. I ordered these on 12/13/09 and received them after three days in good conditions (it was a rainy day here), even when the box was sitting outside my house. I never have trouble in receiving anything from amazon shipping has been fast always. right now they are sitting on my kitchen counter fully assembled and tested.
about the lights:
1 yes they are cheap even compared to biglots
2. construction is plastic from a distance does not feel cheap.
3. I received all the lights ie 10 of them nothing missing
4. the solar panel probably is amorphous silicon which are not very efficient in converting light to electricity. nicely sealed from the inside that poses the problem of water seeping into the sides of the exposed panel may be lead to shorting later on (not sure about this)
5. the batteries are 600mAH 1.2 V NiCad
6. one of the poster commented on the stands beign very fragile. In my view they are designed for holding these lamps and does the job well. however how they are going to hold these lamps in rains and winds time will tell.
some of the lights i received the sensor was kind of smudged though it worked even in presence of the fluorescent light, so it will definitely work in sunlight. with my experiment in presence of fluorescent light i am thinking that they may not work in my front yard because of the street light in my front yard. as one poster mentioned that the led's are not bright which is true anyways.
The lights are very simple in construction and I hope that no one should have any problem in modding them to their taste in fact these are the best ones for modding. i will try to replace these leds with yellow ones in some of them to have a feel of warmth instead of the white light. I will add a red led on one of them and place it on my mail box, the neighbours may get a kick out of it. I will update this post after the experimentation later on.

these lights offer great value for the price.
pros: easy to install, good appreance, love the blue light
cons: very low power - should be used for cosmetic jobs such as marking driveway boundary, fragile (be careful not to apply much pressure when assembling and installing)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great looking lights, at a great price, May 29, 2010

This review is from: Moonrays 91225 Verona Style Solar Powered Plastic Path Light, Black, 10 Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I ordered this product Wednesday night, and was amazed that Amazon was able to get it to my house Friday morning with Free Saver shipping! Lights were packaged neatly.

The product itself is a great buy. There are 10 lights that are extremely simple to assemble and install... my 5 year old son had no problems helping me put these up along our walkway. There are basically three simple steps to putting these lights together. Put the stakes in the ground, attach the lights to the stakes, and remove little plastic tabs from battery slot in order to start the charging and use of the batteries.

The design, made from all plastic, is very sturdy and has an elegant look to it.

I put the lights up outside around 1pm today, and it was fairly cloudy. That being said... once the sun went down, all 10 lights lit up and looks great along my walkway. The LEDs let off a nice blueish white light.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the lights, and the job Amazon did shipping the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Deal on Nice Landscapings Lights, September 16, 2009

This review is from: Moonrays 91225 Verona Style Solar Powered Plastic Path Light, Black, 10 Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
These lights are a great deal! 10 for only $30 is cheap and the lights serve their purpose. Most of the lights came on the same night I got them. Some needed a day to charge. They let out just enough bluish light to decorate your landscaping at night. I love them! Will buy more when needed.

I bought these outdoor lights so I could see my dogs at night when I let them out in the backyard. My issue with these lights is that not all of them light up and there is really no reason why some work and some don't. And those that do light up just aren't that great. My friends bought a similar item from costco and they love them and they work a lot better and I would definitely go with the costco version if I had a chance to do it again.
