I've had these for a year now and think they were good value for money. But before you buy you should be clear about what they can and can't do.

Originally, I put them in two locations in my yard: a mostly shaded walkway and a path through an open south facing meadow. The shaded lights would stay lit for 4-5 hours after dusk in Summer, but only 1-2 in Winter. Eventually, I moved them from here and will replace them with wired lights. The spot was too shady in Winter. The full sun lights in the meadow ran all night in the Summer, and until Midnight in the Winter. They seem to charge even on cloudy days as long as there is little shade. They are great and keep on going.

As far as durability, we've now lost three to being kicked (one by me late on a dark winter night when I couldn't see it, one by careless kids, and on by panicked deer). But they've stood up fine to the wind and weather.

The brightness is good. They are designed to help you see your way, but aren't security lighting. LED lights like this don't get dim: as the battery fades, they just turn off.

Bottom line? The price is good, the brightness is good, the durability is what you would expect for plastic (most cheap "metal" lights I looked at were actually plastic with a bit of foil on the outside -- the real metal ones cost 4 to 10 times this much), and they are reliable in places with good exposure. If you want your shady path lit, skip the solar and buy something wired.

I've never written a review on Amazon as I have never felt strongly enough about a product (either positive or negative) to do so. However, after purchasing these lights based in large part on positive reviews on this site, I thought my review could be helpful. The lights are very easy to assemble, however, that is the one positive comment that I can offer. After testing each light and placing them along my sidewalk, I noticed that 3 or 4 of the 10 were not working the next night. I was able to get the broken lights to work by shaking them or remvoving the battery and then placing it back in. Turns out, that this is an everyday occurence for the majority of the lights. I should also note that when removing the batteries, I found that the battery compartments were full of water as the tops do not have an adequate locking mechanism. In addition, last night after strong winds and some rain, I found that all 10 lights were out. At this point, we elected to buy new ones and dispose of the lights that we had just purchased. Fortunately, they were cheap, but, in this situation, you truly get what you pay for.

I love these lights. I was hesitant about purchasing them given there had been no reviews. I am so glad I did!! The light reflected on the ground is just beautiful! I would totally recommend this product to others.

Perfect for the garden or walkway. They work immediately and only get better with more sun. The clear plastic bottom provides circular star displays on the ground. It is very attractive.

These lights are not robust enough for typical New Jersey fall weather. I installed the lights and they worked as expected for a few days. On day four, it rained late in the afternoon. Thereafter, the lights all failed. I believe the rain infiltrated the circuitry to cause the failure.

While these lights are very bright the plastic stakes to place in the ground are of poor quality and over the last year over half have broken.

First - I gave four stars because there are solar lights available the have two or more LED's. The product, as sold, is fine, but the more LED's there are the more light there is. I also remove the 300 or so MA hour (milliamp hour) NiCd batteries and replace them with 2000+ MA HR NiMH batteries for added years of service. A rule of thumb is that batteries are good for 500 complete discharge/charge cycles and the NiCd fit that cycle. The batteries that only are partially discharged and then charged will last longer. For example - daily 1/2 battery capacity discharge/charge cycle will double the battery life and the higher capacity NiMH batteries fall in this category.
