4.0 out of 5 stars Bright as expected- Good Value
These are as bright as I would expect from solar charged LEDs, brighter than most others I've seen. They have no affect on a night with a bright, full moon. But when it's pitch black out, they make a huge difference. They make my front walk and steps safe. I put aluminum foil inside of one half and inside the top to reflect more light on the walkway. The charge will last...

2.0 out of 5 stars Some things you need to know about these lights.
I read some great reviews about these lights and based on what I read, I ordered three sets of four. Eleven of the lights worked right out of the box. The twelfth did not work. After four days in sunlight, it was still not working. I changed the battery. It worked for several nights and then stopped working again. Assume the battery is not being recharged. Of the...

The charge will last at least a few hours from indirect sun and the lights stay bright for long into the night if they are in full sun. They're easy to install and easy to get apart if you have to work on them. It looks like the rechargeable AA battery inside could be replaced if it ever needed to be. I will end up buying 4 more soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Woods Industries Moonrays Pewter Solar Lights, August 20, 2009
This review is from: Moonrays 93004 Dover 4 Pack of Pewter Solar Fixtures (Tools & Home Improvement)
I placed two of the solar lights by the front porch steps and two by the side door. The light emitted is not too bright or too soft and illuminates the areas well. An added bonus is when we have the usual winter electricity outages due to ice, snow and wind we can bring the lights inside to avoid using candles and numerous flashlights. We like the solar lights and are happy to have them.

Of the eleven that worked out of the box the sun sensor fell off of one but the wires remained attached. Didn't seem to screw on so I assumed it was supposed to be glued. I just laid it back on top and the light has worked OK for the month after it was installed. The other ten worked OK for the first month that I have had them - but one of the ten has now ceased to function. Maybe needs a battery change or it has just gone bad - who knows. The light, of all of the working ones, is dim and three do not come on at night because one is too close to a porch light and the other two get some rays from a street light. These things have to be taken into consideration when using lights with sensors. The biggest problem with my lights is with the cosmetic's. The Pewter lights start to rust after being in the rain and lawn sprinklers over a period of weeks. The rust starts to form in the trough around the sun sensor and spreads out from there.

Several weeks after my review above, we had about 5" of rain over a three day period. On the third night, I noticed that the bulbs in two of the pewter path lights seemed to be floating. Close inspection showed that the plastic lens portion , on both lights, had filled with water. One of these was the light that had the sun-sensor that had fallen off. The other had a sensor that had not been completely glued at the factory. I emptied the water out and they still work but are even dimmer than the others. One has to wonder about the lack of quality control on the assembly line for these lights. I guess they just throw them together and hope they stick. As for the rust. If you google "Does pewter rust?" the answer will come back "No".

Great price for these classy looking lights. They do need bright sunshine to power up, but they look great to light up a path

Only two lights functioned. Screws holding lights together stripped out, three fell out in box during shipping.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!, January 28, 2011

Worthless junk. I ordered 60 of these to light up the entrance to my property. I immediately had to get replacements for at least 12 that did not work when they arrived. The packaging is flimsy. The lights were extremely dim and often did not light up at all. Then the rain came! The lights had not been exposed to water until the winter. Guess what? They are not waterproof! All of them filled up with water and are totally useless, beyond repair. Do not waste your money on these. Look for a light that is water tight.

PS-and of course, the guarantee was only good for 30 days.

I did not even want to give this product one star but had to to leave a review.

2.0 out of 5 stars plastic goes bad..., April 6, 2010
This review is from: Moonrays 93004 Dover 4 Pack of Pewter Solar Fixtures (Tools & Home Improvement)
These lights worked fine for one year, then the elements (sun, wind, cold) got to them. The Plastic lens/housing has cracked on all of them - rendering them garbage. Very disappointing.

Received these in a timely manner, and they were a great price (even less than our local discount stores offered for similar products). They look really nice, day or night, and work fine. For this price I didn't expect they would be the best quality, nor the brightest light, but I feel these were worth the price I paid and would buy them again, and they look great surrounding our yard at night.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good product but low light, May 13, 2010

This review is from: Moonrays 93004 Dover 4 Pack of Pewter Solar Fixtures (Tools & Home Improvement)
These look very nice, especially the ones where the solar cell didn't fall off. They don't throw much light though and as such, wouldn't be good enough to illuminate completely dark walk unless they were spaced every 4'. The solar cells fell off of two of the four and we had to glue them back on. How expensive is hot glue people? Get it and use it. Besides that, the concept is great. One AA battery that the cell recharges and once the battery gives out we can pop in a new one.

EDIT: 4/10/12. The solar cell has fallen off of all of them and they all have huge amounts of rust on them. They are full of water and spiders now. Still worth it though. The price has fallen even further, so why not replace them. I'm going to find another set though since these are a known problem. I will also glue the cells on all of them right away if it's obvious that they have the same issue.
