This book continues the successful collaboration of two very good, high powered writers BUT it has several serious flaws that is more the result of too much "horsepower" than lack of story. For example, I was totally lost for about the first 25 pages because the story constantly refers back to previous characters and events from the first book. I had read that book only...

I personally loved this book, filled with surprises and so many new, wonderful characters... not to mention the villain. WOW, very impressive!

The final few chapters were powerful enough to take my breath away.

So please, do yourself a favour and READ this book. I recommend this book to both women and men.

This review is from: Moon's Web (Tales of the Sazi, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
In this follow up to Hunter's Moon our favorite anti-hero, Tony Giodone and his once suicidal but sweet wife are back. Tony is, as we learned previously, a werewolf. Bitten by his mafia boss's girlfreind in an assasination gone bad, Tony is transforming even further. Now he is developing new and rare psychic powers. He catches freaky glimpses into the past of the people around him. Plus he can actually see the color of a magical aura around his fellow Sazi, or were creatures.

Now we have a host of new characters for what is shaping into a great series. (And uniquely this series is told from the male perspective.) Tony's new boss is REALLY old russian mafia and he's running with the pack, Robert the python is getting some dragon lovin', a convention of crazily lovable sazi are coming to town, and oh yeah a giant were spider thingy is killing and kidnapping on a deadly rampage.

Tony is climbing the ranks of the Sazi and showing us a continually deeper look in to this new culture. This book is funny, inventive, and extremely action packed. It will have you on the edge of your seat or bed or "were"ever you read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Moon's Web (Tales of the Sazi, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have gotten tired of some of the werewolf books out there and decided not to read any more, was I wrong, this series is outstanding. I think this is better than the last one and it was superb.

Tony is an assassin who was bitten by a werewolf. He was one of the best hitmen around. He has given up his profession to stay with his mate Sue, he saved her in the previous book. Now he has to learn to live with what he is and learn alot of new rules.

Sue had won the lottery and her life was made so miserable by her family she had tried to hire Tony to kill her. He wouldn't kill her but he would love her forever.

At the end of HUNTER'S MOON both of them were injured and being nursed back to health. Secure in their love for each other and ready for a new life. Faking their deaths saves Tony from the police and Sue from her family.

Tony is finally healed and joins the pack. But something about the pack mentallity undermines his physic connection to Sue. It is finally realized that he and Sue are double mates. That is the easy part. Being absorbed and learning to accept the pack is alot harder.

This is one of the most exciting, fast paced books I have read in a while. I don't want to ruin any of this for you, but this is an awesome plot. There are so many Sasi, shapechangers, you never know what you will meet. Each and everyone of them have different powers, now Tony must learn to control his powers, his temper, and his woman.

I can't say enough good things about this book. If you liked HUNTER'S MOON you will love the continueing story. I hope we get many more. A great fantasy, a great romance, and a thrilling story. DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book continues the successful collaboration of two very good, high powered writers BUT it has several serious flaws that is more the result of too much "horsepower" than lack of story. For example, I was totally lost for about the first 25 pages because the story constantly refers back to previous characters and events from the first book. I had read that book only two weeks previous but I didn't remember enough so that this book can stand alone in the series. You must have read the first book. Secondly, there is an abundance of fascinating characters, each with strong and interesting stories, that essentially are tripping over each other trying to get their moment in the spotlight. The initial love story is neglected in favor of world building. But as the story comes to a racing conclusion, it is totally burning on all cylinders and makes the ride worthwhile. Hang with these writers and this series, because they are doing great--they just need a little more organization in their storytelling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another amazing Sazi tale in the unique series, August 30, 2005
This review is from: Moon's Web (Tales of the Sazi, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques

Moon's Web continues the story of Tony and Sue, which was begun in Hunter's Moon, and is sure to have readers as engrossed in this one as well.

Tony and Sue had their deaths staged at the end of book one so they could go on with their new lives as members of a new Sazi (shape shifter) pack and not have to worry about their pasts coming back to haunt them. Now known as Joe and Jessica Giambrocco, they have begun to adapt to their new home, and have many challenges facing them in their mated relationship as well.

Almost immediately upon recovering from injuries sustained in his last battle, Tony is called upon by his old mob boss, Carmine, for a special case. It turns out Carmine and his wife Linda's special third party in their marriage, Babs, who just so happens to be the werewolf who converted Tony, has been kidnapped, but not by any ordinary villain. Her captor is thought to be another Sazi, who is preying on others of their kind. Only Tony can handle this case, with help from friend Bobby Mbutu, Wolven agent to the whole Sazi population.

Things grow more complicated however; as Tony begins to acquire new Sazi powers he can't quite control yet and has to adjust to his position in his new wolf pack in Chicago, headed by Nikoli. When more Sazi women turn up dead, and others disappear, all in the midst of planning a huge conference for all of the Sazi species, the situation grows more dire. They all realize the enemy they are dealing with is far deadlier then anything they've encountered in a very long time, and is a species they thought long obliterated. Can they track down the kidnapper before it is too late for Babs and the other women?

Wow! Ms. Clamp and Ms. Adams pull no punches with this story. It is darker, grittier, and more suspenseful then its prequel. Readers will love the world created in this series, and especially enjoy the complex society made up of shape shifters of every kind imaginable. The plot is fast paced, full of mystery, and drives onward to the thrilling climax that will leave readers breathless.

The authors' voice is truly their own, and that is all the more evident in this book. Though there is less focus on the Mafia world here, readers are given a glimpse into an even more compelling and complicated world, that of the Sazi. Yet there is still enough of the darker side of Tony's personality visible, and readers also get to visit with some old acquaintances.

What is interesting is that though Sue and Tony are the main characters again in this story, the underlying story is about Bobby and Asri, his mate whom he finds in this story. Seeing the reptilian Bobby brought to his knees by his love for the petite but powerful dragon of a woman, Asri, is a sight to behold. All of the conflicts arising between them are given full rein, through the newfound powers of Tony, who is still the storyteller here.

Readers, be they new to the world of the Sazi, or coming back for more, are guaranteed to be thoroughly entertained. This reviewer has become a diehard fan of these two rising stars of the paranormal romance genre. One will be dying to read the next chapter in the exciting saga.

4.0 out of 5 stars Book 2, May 26, 2005
This review is from: Moon's Web (Tales of the Sazi, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Tony was one of the best assassins for the mafia until he was turned into a werewolf. Now he is the best assassin in the world. Tony is still trying to learn the rules of being part of a pack. His human mate, Sue, has to quickly adapt as well. But Tony is about to face even more changes within himself. Talents that only a rare few shifters are gifted with are beginning to emerge from within Tony as well, and he does NOT like them!

Something is kidnapping the female shapeshifters. This is not something that would normally affect humans, but the most recently kidnapped shifter is the girlfriend of a human named Carmine Leone. Carmine is the Mafia don and Tony's former boss. Unless Tony, Sue, and an elite group of shifters can locate the kidnapped shifters quickly and destroy an unknown menace, Carmine is prepared to wage an all out war. Even though the shapeshifters would win a war against the Mafia, doing so would expose their culture to the humans.

**** An exciting sequel to "Hunter's Moon" but it does start up too slowly. Readers learn more about shifters, pack members, and the super natural world these two talented authors have created. I cannot tell more without spoilers, which is something I refuse to do. But rest assured, you are going to enjoy this one! ****

2.0 out of 5 stars A dangerous shifter, a new pack and a new life, March 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Moon's Web (Kindle Edition)
Moon's Web by C.T Adams and Cathy Clamp is the second book in the series and it was horrendous. There was too much going on in the plot and the writing while not bad wasn't good enough to keep you entertained in the story.

Moon's Web takes Tony and Sue to a new town and a new pack, they have to adjust to being involved in pack life where everyone helps everyone and strength is what gives you status.

Something has happened to Tony, he's become needy and Sue feels that he's trying to control her so she starts to pull away from him feeling like the life she has now isnt what she wanted.
While Tony and Sue are dealing with the problems in their relationship the police of the shifters decide to have a inter species meeting where Tony and Sue have made their new home.
Aside from all that taking place a shifter body has been found and other shifters are missing, Tony has to find out where their being taken to before his old mob boss decides to create a war.

Overall the story was to confusing to read with all that was going on in the plot and then to add the lackluster writing made the book even worse. The blurb on the back cover of the book was probably the best thing about this entire installment to the Sazi series, for any true fans you may want to read this novel anyway so you can stay up to date in the series but as a stand alone novel it isnt worth your time or money

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, October 11, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Moon's Web (Tales of the Sazi, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Tony Giodone is an assassin who has been bitten by a werewolf, making him the perfect hitman. He and Sue, his human mate, have been given new identities and relocated by the Sazi to Chicago. There they are attempting to adjust to pack life. Other than being furry once a month and craving red meat, Tony's adjustments include his newfound ability to see other people's memories by simply touching them. The Sazi call this "hindsight."

Tony's old Mafia boss, Carmine Leone, hires him to find his kidnapped lover Babs, an Alpha werewolf. According to Wolven Security Chief Lucas, she isn't the first Sazi female to be reported missing. As if Carmine's demands aren't enough, the world leaders of the shapeshifter clans have converged on Chicago in order to train Tony in the use of his new "gift."

Sure, piece of cake! He just has to find Babs, keep the pack leader from ripping his face off because Tony doesn't play well with others, and solve the mystery of the missing Sazi females....nothing to it! All Tony really wants to do is grab Sue, find the closest secluded horizontal surface and spend some quality time with his mate. These pack problems are really getting to be a pain!

Although Moon's Web starts out slowly, it is an excellent continuation of the Sazi series. It is a bit frustrating when the authors hinted at situations that occurred in the first book without giving full explanations. However, the heat between secondary characters Bobby and Asri keeps the story moving along at an even pace. My imagination got quite a full workout with the eclectic mix of shapeshifters. I wasn't certain how the authors could gather that mix into a cohesive law enforcement unit, but they did a wonderful job. I highly recommend that you read Hunter's Moon first to avoid confusion of characters and plotlines. Oh, the villain of the story? Well, read Moon's Web and be amazed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable werewolf adventure, May 28, 2009
This review is from: Moon's Web (Tales of the Sazi, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ex-assassin and newly converted werewolf Tony Giodone is trying to fit into the Chicago pack, learning to deal with his new status, and desperately in love with his human mate, Sue. But things get complicated when he learns he has additional powers--and when someone begins hunting the people of power who are his new peers. Tony is going to need to call on all of his skills--both his new and magical ones, and those that once made him the mob's top assassin--if he's to have any chance of surviving. The worst thing is, he doesn't have a clue who he's fighting but every time he gets a sniff of what it left behind, every sense in his being goes into overdrive.

Authors C. T. Adams and Cathy Clamp create an intriguing secret history with werewolves co-existing with other magical shapeshifters, and with a variety of magic. The shifters keep themselves hidden partly by strong rules--enforced by rulers who have lived for hundreds of years and have continuously accumulated power over that time. Adams and Clamp walk the narrow line spanning romance and urban fantasy. Although the fundamental romantic conflict between Tony and Sue has been resolved (MOON'S WEB is the second book in the Sazi series), there are moments when the writing feels very romancy, and other moments when the strong external plot seems to get lost while Tony worries about his love life.

I would have liked to see more focus on the story line--the investigation of the mising women and the balancing act between Mob and shape-shifter. Still, when Adams and Clamp turn up the gas, the story gets very exciting. I had a bit of trouble getting into MOON'S WEB, but once I did, it was hard to put down.

3.0 out of 5 stars I liked it overall, December 15, 2008

Diane Peter "Rabid Bookaholic" (Collinsville, Illinois USA) - See all my reviews
Well I really liked it overall, I have books 1 to 3 so I'm really looking forward to getting 4 through 6. I don't think much of the editor though since there are too many mistakes that should have been cleaned up or fixed, there's could care less when it should be couldn't care less, the last sentence in a paragraph ends at the so you don't know the what, & there are several instances of a the a & an and, all of which should have been fixed.
