Worth a long drive, but now you don't have to!, February 12, 1999

What can I say... The Lost Continentals are the greatest. After becoming addicted to this CD (as well as the now hard to find 4 song cassette from years gone by), I drove 3 hours to Orlando, FL to see these cats. They rocked the house down, as always. Swing is back and the Lost Continentals are its finest ambassadors. This four member group captures so many facets of swing; from sultry to rockin'. Amy's voice has that perfect sassy, swingin' tonal quality. Hammer's beats never fail to get those toe's a-tappin'. Johnny's bass lines are inspiring. Jeff? Well, Jeff's guitar playing has inspired me to become a serious jazz guitar player. Together they create some incredible music. Why this group isn't as big (or bigger) than all those West Coast swing groups (you know who I mean!), I just don't know. So don't let the Continentals stay lost! Find them in your CD player ASAP!!!

I heard this group in Birmingham, Alabama at their City Stages festival, and was blown away. Their sound just makes you wanna get up and dance the night away. It is a band I'd recommend to any true swing fan.

They have that continental flair..., September 30, 1998

Amy, Johnny, Jeff and Hammer. These four hep cats swing with the best. Amy Pike's sultry voice sways through the groovin' bass lines of Johnny Cowan (Cowan is the bassist of Fine Grit fame) and the rockin' beat of the one they simply call Hammer. Talented guitarist Jeff Passifiume adds the grease to this finely-tuned Atlanta-based swing machine.

I wish this group had more than one album..., April 28, 2006
This review is from: Moonshine & Martinis (Audio CD)
Nearly 10 years after the swing revival of the mid/late 90s, this is one album I still listen to on a frequent basis. I saw them play a couple of times in the Atlanta area and they put on a great show. I'm so glad I have this one CD at least. Amy Pike's vocals are amazing and the band gives her the full backup. If you still get the urge to kick up your heels and swing dance, don't miss this album!

I can't sit still when listening to this CD! I love to dance, and these musicians have recorded not only some of the best swing music, but also a few sultry tunes that are wonderfully sexy to dance to!

It swings daddy-o!, May 18, 1998

My favorite little local band is all grown up. I've been a fan of this Atlanta swing and rockabilly band for a couple of years now, and boy, can they rock the house. After seeing them live for so long, I was a bit worried that the beer joint swing band that I know and love wouldn't translate well to CD. I couldn't have been more wrong. Now the CD stays in my CD changer all the time so I can have a Lost Continentals show no matter where I go. After listening to the CD a few times, I can almost see Amy Pike (their lead singer) smile and wave to the crowd as she belts out an enthusiastic "They're All Big" (track 11, my personal fav). But a pure Lost Continentals signature song has to be "Please, Please", and after hearing (and for me, seeing) Jeff Passifiume's guitar, it makes me want to go get a Gibson hollowbody and learn to play. The Lost Continentals put on a great show, and for those who wouldn't be able to see them in person, this CD will motivate you to head down to Atlanta to see a show, and shake the hands of the bandmembers and tell them "thanks, for such a great CD". It's a great addition to the rebirth of swing and big band music, no collection would be compleat without it. Gee, that sounds like one of those commercials you see on midnight TV.END

Still Great After All This Time, May 27, 2011
This review is from: Moonshine & Martinis (Audio CD)
I've been compiling all my old music and pulled this fantastic CD out for a spin. It is just as good as I remembered, if not better. It's great music without all the crazy horn action, and it makes me miss my swing days. I've can't wait to share it with new friends who have never been to ATL.

If you're a hepcat looking for some sweet sounds, check out this CD. It's got some catchy tunes that'll have you singin' in the shower. The female vocals are soft and sultry, and the rhythms are swingin'. I usually prefer bigger bands, but this sound really got to me. They're a great little group.
