Great toy for the aspiring ballerina!
My 4 year old daughter got this for her birthday and absolutely LOVES it. It was her favorite gift. The slippers and tutu are a little chintzy, but she doesn't care. I highly recommend it if the little girl in your life likes ballet!

Save your money & invest in real lessons instead
We were so excited when we saw the ballerina playmat and bar; looked perfect for our 4 year old ballet-obsessed daughter. She was so excited when she saw the present, but we were a bit shocked to see what we'd paid for -- a simply made vinyl mat, very light-weight, cheap plastic bar, flimsy ballet "slippers" that promptly ripped apart, and a tutu that fits one of our...

We were so excited when we saw the ballerina playmat and bar; looked perfect for our 4 year old ballet-obsessed daughter. She was so excited when she saw the present, but we were a bit shocked to see what we'd paid for -- a simply made vinyl mat, very light-weight, cheap plastic bar, flimsy ballet "slippers" that promptly ripped apart, and a tutu that fits one of our daughter's dolls (and our daughter is very petite for her age!). Definitely not worth the money. I'm shocked that a product like this is carried by Back to Basics Toys - generally a catalog filled with quality vintage and well-constructed toys.
Save your money and purchase a few real-life lessons instead.

This toy is rated for a 3 to 8 year old. The tutu and the slippers which come with the set will not fit a six year old . The mat is difficult to calibrate. I found myself disappointed with the set. In all fairness it might work very well for a three year old.
