5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful tongue twister
This is one of my favorite children's books. My kids love it and it is fun to read. I can be a tongue twister but that is part of the fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay but I've seen better from both the writer & illustrator
The story is wacky but there's not much to it. The book could be so much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Way to Introduce a Skill, February 18, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Moosetache (Paperback)
My 2nd grade class loved this moose, and thought the story was quite funny. Whenever possible I use a story to introduce reading strategies or skills. This story was used to introduce the prefix un-. I debated over a 4 star or 5 star rating. I decided on a 5 star because the humor was appealing to my second grade students.

4.0 out of 5 stars So that's what the family goop is!, December 10, 2003

We actually bought the Mooseltoe book first, which my 3 year old absolutely adored, then saw this book at the library shortly thereafter. Of course, we HAD to borrow it. After reading this book, we understood what the "tried and true family goop" was - glue! This is a fun book with a silly premice. A great preschooler book.

I love Margie Palatini and I thought that this book was absolutely hilarious. The illustrations definitely add character to the text and I am always a sucker for a love story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Glue in hair?, February 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Moosetache (Hardcover)
My kids love this book because it is silly and gives creative solutions. However, as a parent, I wonder why the author came up with the ridiculous idea to put glue in the moose's hair to keep it out of the way!!!! I hope my daughters (ages 3 and 15 months) won't remember this the next time we get the glue bottle out for a craft project.

Delightful illustrations and story. A fun tale. Sorry to see it's out of print, but fortunately many Amazon sellers have quality used copies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Touching tale with tongue twisting twirls, October 5, 2009

I love reading this book to my children, although I have yet to successfully get through it without stumbling over a word or two. This isn't a poem, so stop looking for a rhythm, it's just a regular story with a lot of alliteration and occasional rhyming words. As a graphic artist I love the fact that the words change in font, size, and twist and twirl. If you pay attention to the story these are used for specific reasons, they help illustrate the points being made in the story.

This is a story about a moose with a bad mustache. He tries everything to fix it, and one day he meets a lady moose with beautifully huge hair. She teaches him how to fix his problem (Note: they mean styling glue not elmer's glue!) and they fall in love. This is a funny love story with great illustrations and wonderful word play.

This story isn't horribly long (try reading some of the Little Einstein books), but it isn't a story you can breeze through either. It is a fun book for children that I highly recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars DIFFICULT TO FIND A RHYTHM, October 15, 2005
This review is from: Moosetache (Paperback)
I think this is one of the poorest written children's books I have ever read. The pacing is difficult and therefore there is no rhythm. The author chooses to insert rhyme with no "rhyme or reason", and uses ridiculous font changes, bold facing, sizing, wavy characters etc. with no purpose. My six year old twins have asked to read it once or twice but it just doesn't cut it. Plus, it's overly long. Do not recommend.
