5.0 out of 5 stars Mad About Moosey Moose
Chris Raschka's Moosey Moose, from the Thingy Things series, is a terrific children's book. It uses very simple sounds and words in repetition to teach kids to read. In this story Moosey Moose is mad because he wants his long pants -- not his short pants! (Our nephew who wears shorts in winter and long pants in summer loves Moosey Moose!) The illustrations are...

1.0 out of 5 stars MOOSEY MOOSE IS THE STUPIDEST BOOK EVER!!!
Only a kid under four would like this book, and I'm not sure they even would. It only has one character, and it stops right when you think something is going to happen. (He finds his pants.) How did this ever get published? I give this book one star for stupidity, boredom, and serious lack of plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moosey Moose is brilliant, January 10, 2002

I saw this book while browsing in my favorite bookstore and immediately loved it, even though I was at least 12 years older than the readers it is written for. The drawings and story are perfect for children, but older readers will get a kick out of Moosey Moose too. I love the page wherein "Moosey Moose is mad" and also the illustration of him snubbing his short pants in favor of the longer ones. This is the best of the four Thingy Things books I've seen. It is so delightful that Moosey Moose has been a topic of conversation at my high school for a year so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thought provoking metaphor, November 18, 2011
This review is from: Moosey Moose (Thingy Things) (Hardcover)
While Moosey Moose doesn't have the tense build up of the Whaley Whale storyline, his avant garde sense of fashion and firm stance on what he wants can be a statement of the bigger picture of going with your gut regardless of the pressure that society puts on you (to wear short pants or long pants, as the case may be). One should not be tethered to the constraints of wearing pants on their lower extremities. They should be free to wear them on their antlers - or lacking antlers, one should be free to wear their pants on their head. At least that's what I got out of this wonderfully illustrated story :)
