3.0 out of 5 stars Good information, BUT ..., June 10, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Mopar Performance (Paperback)
Book is always recommending mopar performance parts which are excellent parts but very expensive. Would be nice if book listed OEM specs for cams, manifolds, cranks, blocks, etc. so a budget engine builder could pick out used parts or compare new parts to specs of original parts if desired. For example book recommends LD-340 aluminum intake made by Edelbrock as 'the intake to have'for a 340, but does not mention that the OEM cast iron intake was designed by Edel and has same performance with some extra weight. Book says quench type heads cause detonation which is completely wrong. READ
Smokey Yunick 'Power Secrets' and David Vizard 'How to build horsepower' for correct use of quench.
