I do wood carvings as a hobby and need strong, sharp tools to do so. I know own five different MORA knives and ive never been let down. They come crazy sharp right out of the package! ive never had to sharpen them, just strop them from time to time and their ready to go again! if ur looking for a super carving knife at a low price this is ur knife! there is a shorter version of this same knife thats better as a detail knife but this works great to! in the picture the knife handle looks small but I have verry large hands and it fits me just fine! hope this helps!

I was very impressed by this knife straight out of the package. It arrived RAZOR SHARP and has stayed sharp through some tinkering on some scrap wood. Haven't used it to carve any masterpieces yet, but it will certainly make it easier to make the components of a fire bow if needed & will be nice when I start carving spoons & bowls.
The sheath is just a molded piece of plastic with some designs and it holds the knife o.k.. Not the best retention (it will come out if you hold it upside down & shake it hard), but this knife will be in my backpack & not used as an EDC or main blade. It keeps the blade from being exposed and I don't see it being a problem. YODA would say, "Very utilitarian and functional it is.".
I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try some good old fashion country carving while waiting for the fish to bite. I have several knives from MORA and I'm planning on purchasing more. I also recommend the Harry J. Epstein Co.. I've received excellent service an my purchases through them on Amazon.

Mora makes an excellent knives. If your knew to whittling, and looking for a good knife, look no further you found it.
Knife has a comfortable wood handle. It has a nice weight to it too. You won't be disappointed, so give it a try.
I made a walking stick, from a fallen branch, when I first bought my Mora, and I love it.

This knife is really good for the price, just like all Mora knives. It's carbon steel, so it will develop a patina, but it also keeps a very sharp edge. It's a thick enough knife that it seems fairly sturdy, but not too thick to impede carving. It's also decent as a garden knife for pruning plants.

The only downside is the sheath, it's made of fairly thin plastic, the belt loop is pathetically thin, probably about as thick as most clamshell style plastic packing. I can't really fault them for skimping on the sheath, as it's something you're most likely not going to be carrying on your belt, and for the price the knife is good enough that it'd be worth it even if it didn't come with the sheath.

I build model airplanes and carve balsa and bass wood and this knife has made difficult jobs easy. It is easy to control and one can remove just the amount of material that one wishes without digging into the wood; I would recommend it to anyone with a similar requirement.

So much better than an exacto knofe! No comparison! Fits well in the hand. nice feel for the wood, keeps a keen edge with leather stropping.

I have used Mora knives for 18 years and they are hands down the best blade for your buck that you can hope to find. I have a collection of various shapes and sizes and what I have learned over the years is to throw away the sheath and use your knife to make a new one. The Sami style of sheath works best.
