4.0 out of 5 stars First Symposium of the LDS National Security Society, August 30, 2008
This review is from: Moral Perspectives on U.S. Security Policy: Views from the Lds Community (Paperback)
This book contains the proceedings of a symposium held at Brigham Young University in 1993; the book was published in 1995. The speakers were all LDS, and either scholars or practitioners in the field of national security. Speakers included Robert S. Wood, Robert Walpole, Kerry Kartchner, Eugene England, Valerie Hudson, Steven Hildreth, and Bruce Porter, among others. Though somewhat dated now, it is still noteworthy for being the first formal expression of LDS thought on national security issues. Ten years later, there was a second symposium, held in 2003, with the symposium proceedings published in 2005. It is called "Wielding the Sword While Proclaiming Peace," and the editors were again Kerry Kartchner and Valerie Hudson; it is available through Amazon, or through the website of the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies at Brigham Young University (http://kennedy.byu.edu ).
