Intelligent, stimulating book giving a refreshingly different perspective on psychology and counseling,

This review is from: The Morals and Politics of Psychology: Psychological Discourse and the Status Quo (SUNY Series, Alternatives in Psychology) (Paperback)
I'm not into long reviews. Just want to say a couple things:I found this to be one of the most unique books I read in my grad school counseling program. It gives a different perspective on psychologists and counselors' roles and purposes than the standard, "we are here to help fix what's wrong with you." It comes more from the multicultural/feminist/narrative therapy and advocacy based perspectives, proposing that often times there's not something wrong with the client, and that instead they've adapted relatively naturally to screwed up situations and culture. Bottom line: if you're looking for a new perspective (even if you don't agree with it) so you gain a more well-rounded collection of theories and ideas regarding the counseling and helping professions, read this book.
