I wore these boots in the mountains and valleys of Afghanistan during a period of almost six months. I did lots of hiking and these were the only boots I used. They held up very well, they were comfortable, and they were sturdy and trustworthy. I recommend them highly to anyone looking to do serious hiking on rough terrain. I'm not sure how they do in cold weather, in hot weather your feet do sweat a bit, but it didn't cause me much trouble. I didn't get any blisters from them and they keep water out quite well. They do have fairly high arches; I would try them on to be sure they fit the shape of your foot. Other than that they are great. Highly recommended.

no my man is a merrell die-heart, ok he has over 10 pairs of merrells, and chooses these when we hike and go out now, thats saying a lot from a man who loves his shoes. they make your feet smile he says..men! lol
