5.0 out of 5 stars Relaxing, April 15, 2004
This review is from: Morbid Campfire Songs (Audio CD)
I remember this album when it was for sale on the Cannibal Corpse/Macabre tour back in 2002. It had a different cover but the music is still the same. The band only made 1000 copies and it sold out real fast. Now it's re-released again..this time on "Season's of Mist" records.

I thought this album was going to be all fast like there other stuff but instead it was slow and mellow. The lyrics are still lurid and at the same time it is sooooooooooooo relaxing. I will give these guys more credit than any other underground band out there. This album was better than there 2000 release "Dahmer."

If you are a Macabre fan this is not like there other music....it is slow and very mellow. So if you don't like that kind of music don't purchase it.

For all the people out there reading this....even if you are not a metal fan just give this CD a try. It is great and I bet the President of the United States would enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD !, July 19, 2004
This review is from: Morbid Campfire Songs (Audio CD)
I've listened to Macabre for years and I never thought I'd hear an acoustic set by them, but here it is. And it's actually really good! There's only five songs, and they aren't very long, but if you like Macabre then it's worth getting. The one song that stands out is "The Geins" concerning Ed Gein from Wisconsin. The lyrics are hillarious. It's worth buying the CD just for this song.

If one is a big fan and is familiar with the humor of Macabre, then they will certainly love to add this little EP from the Macabre Minstrels to their collection. Containing 5 acoustic songs (No drums whatsoever), this is music that will make you laugh, relax you, and at the same time, disturb someone who isn't familiar with Macabre and catch them off guard as at first, it sounds more like something like Willy Nelson. Sure they could have added more songs, but I think they wanted to keep it as a little novelty collectable item of sorts. I personally was lucky enough to find it in a super rare combo package with their Murder Metal album limited to 1000 copies. (Basically it's the two CDs with a giant cardboard sleeve over them.) Also after you hear the song In the Mountains, you may want to give the movie "Cannibal! The Musical" a watch as it is based on the same story and it is absolutely hilarious (made by the creators of South Park as a matter of fact). Well, this may not be for everybody but if you are familiar with Macabre and have a good sense of humor and knowledge of serial killers, then you absolutely must check this out.
