This was a great parent education resource! Dr. Phelan focuses on start behaviors so I only recommend this to parents who are needing to get their children to go to bed, eat meals, do chores or homework. The original 1-2-3 Magic tape is for disciplinary matters or stop behaviors. I have used this with a parent education class and it was very well received. My only suggestion would be, if you use this as a parent ed resource you may want to consider stopping the tape before the self-esteem section. This part seems to be at a different level and the parents I work with, did not connect with it as they did the first part. Leave the self-esteem section for a meeting with other counselors or educators.

I learned of Dr. Phelan at my son's school. They had a parent coffee and showed this video. I purchased it immediately afterwards to share with my husband. We both were impressed with Dr. Phelan's style of discipline and thank him for helping us restore some sanity to our lives. I highly recommend purchasing the entire series, as they are all part of the entire discipline program and you really need them all to follow the program properly.

Great book for those who have successfully used the first book. Covers more of the start behaviors.

You can buy this product new for $40 from Sunburst Media. Why pay more for a used copy when you can buy it new for almost half the price?
I agree with the other reviewer who said it is best for certain behaviors. But it also encourages positive reinforcement, which some parents need help with.
