4.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Modular Origami!!!, January 31, 2007
This review is from: More and More 3D Origami (Paperback)
This book is perfect for anyone interested in beginning to work with modular (aka block or unit) origami, but instead of geometric and arithmatic shapes, real animals and fun models! It's 1 of 3 written in english. It takes dedication, as some of the more elaborate models require hundreds of small triangles, but the finished product is well worth it!! If you like origami as a quick hobby or for children, this is not the book for you. If on the other hand, you love origami as a true and ancient art and are willing treat it as such, this is THE book for you. Now. For the woman in Orlando. Do NOT let her review influence your decision. For a "proffessional shopper" to give such a review is astounding. Honestly. If you buy this book for kids, you will be dissapointed. But if you don't bother to check what kind of book it is or what form of origami it teaches before buying it, you cannot expect to be happy with it. The same is true of any product. So pay attention to what you're buying! Again, not for those who only see origami as a kids craft, only for those who can appreciate the art and history of Origami.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful easy way to create fabulous origami pieces., February 24, 2008
This review is from: More and More 3D Origami (Paperback)
I love this book! I had purchased the original 3d origami years ago but seemed to have lost the book so I decided to purchase this one. Actually I ended up finding it and also purchased the other 3d origami book. Just to let you know, this is not a typical origami. You create a figure, animal or a centerpiece with hundreds of pieces of rectangular paper with the same fold. The average fold would probably be around 400 to 500 pieces. Once you fold all the pieces, then you build the figure or animal, by attaching the folds one by one. The instructions are very thorough and once you create one, then you can create others easily. You will be amazed at how beautiful your creation looks once you are finished. I have created quite a few and I love the way it looks. It is definitely worth your time. But like I said, it takes time. On an average it takes me about 15 to 20 hours to make an animal. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to sit and relax and like to do something with their hands. I usually sit in front of the tv (about 2 hours a day) and fold while watching tv.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and easy to follow directions, March 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: More and More 3D Origami (Paperback)
I really like this book. For a 3-D origami beginner, I find this book very helpful. I love all the different items featured in the book as well. The author did a wonderful job of explaining and showing how to do things in detail. Depending on the size of the project, there will be a lot of folding involved. If you have carpal tunnel syndrome like me, make sure you wear your wrist guard while folding because your hands and fingers are sure to swell up like it did mine. I've already made the dragon boat and the lucky ball. All in all, I'm really glad I bought this book. If you're a beginner, this is a good book for you.
