This lively collection sizzles with cheerful animation and energetic youngsters in 30 minutes of captivating kid-vid entertainment. Hap Palmer sings 10 original, upbeat tunes based on comforting themes of family, home, and play. The songs seamlessly flow from one to the next, offering viewers a soothing transition from playtime to quiet time. Its target audience is the preschool crowd who will squeal with delight as they watch a chimpanzee clad in a pink bib ("Sitting in a High Chair"), or kids holding on tightly to their daddies' necks for rousing horse rides ("Daddy Be a Horsie"). This video is a reissue of an earlier (1987) title of the same name. The newer, reconfigured program has dropped a couple of earlier songs (regarding monsters and witches) and replaced them with more benign selections, including the excellent "Big Things Come from Little Things." Our son, who is now 15 months old, first saw this video when he was about 8 months old. From that time until this day, when he hears the opening theme music he stops what he's doing and gives his undivided attention to the video for the full 30 minutes. It has worked wonders when he was fussy and needed soothing, when he was sleepy and needed calming, and when my husband or I were tired/busy and needed a break. Even away from the video, just singing one of the songs will bring a smile to his face. This video and others in this series with similar music styles and live action segments (e.g.,"ABC, 123, Colors, and Shapes")have worked better with our infant than those in the series that have some puppetry and more animation (e.g. "Baby Songs"). The animation and puppetry would probably be better for children a little older who have better represenational thought and play skills.

I bought this video back in 1989 for a niece, who loved it and watched it repeatedly. It has since been passed around to each new baby in the family. In ten years, not one baby, boy or girl, hasn't been captavated and entertained by this wonderful tape. It is now back at our house and my 15 month old son loves it. Nothing else has held his attention like this. It's really a must have!
