Awesome - give it a listen!,

I was perusing the Amazon MP3 downloads and came across this song. I like pop music - I have plenty of the chart toppers for my iPod, and this was in the list of songs to preview. I am not a Christian and this might be the only Christian song on my iPod. It's awesome for everyone! And the lyrics rock! Thanks Jonny!

Amazing Song,

While a lot of songs have embodied the question "am I beautiful" that all girls ask, this song is a song of answers. It encapsulates the truth that they are made in God's image with a purpose, and therefore could never be any more beautiful. And God's truth always has the power to be life-changing. :)

Beautiful Message!,
By
This review is from: More Beautiful You (MP3 Download)
Diaz brings up a subject that desperately needs addressing: true womanly beauty. The touching lyrics in this song reassure girls, young and young at heart, that "there can never be a more beautiful you". In a world where beauty is supposed to be about makeup and clothes, plastic surgery and sensuality, this song brings a fresh, blessed message of hope to young women everywhere.
From a musician's perspective, the catchy melody and original lyrics make this song an easy listen. I suggest this song for the young woman in your life, and be sure to remind her of how beautiful she is, just the way she is.

There Can Never Be A More Beautiful You,
This review is from: More Beautiful You (Audio CD)
Fans of Jack Johnson/Bebo Norman will like Jonny Diaz. Jonny gave up a potential career in Major League Baseball to devote his life to writing music that brings out the best in people. The title track of this album speaks to how beauty is seen through the eyes of our creator. This album was well-written and the melodies were well thought out. I recommend this album to fans of "chill" music, but also people who want to seperate themselves from what the world of TV advertising and the never ending gauntlet of current trends.

I had the privilege of seeing Jonny Diaz in person several years ago before he was a signed artist. I have been a huge fan ever since. The first time I heard 'More Beautiful You' tears came to my eyes. My 7 year old daughter loves it as much as I do. This has a true and wonderful message spoken in a way everyone from 7 to 70 can understand.

The message of who Jesus is and and who we are is not lost in the songs. It comes out clearly in the lyrics and the delivery is from the heart.
I read a brief bio and I applaud the use of your gift to reach others through music for the cause of Christ. Good work Jonny. I got his other albums today.

Jonny is wonderfully talented! Fantastic Christian Music!,
This review is from: More Beautiful You (MP3 Download)
I bought this CD after seeing Jonny perform before Mercy Me. His lyrics are thought-provoking, his voice is amazing, and I love having music like this that I can listen to with my family. The songs in this album have some wonderful messages such as accepting God's plan even if it isn't the plan we wanted, to be happy with who you are, and to not be ashamed to talk about God to others. I look forward to seeing Jonny's talents become even more well recognized. I will definitely buy his next album as well!

An Enjoyable Debut, but It Leave Plenty of Room to Grow,

I was surprised to learn after getting this CD that it isn't Jonny Diaz's first. But it is his first with a label, so that helps explain my confusion. Honestly, that's beside the point. This is a fun, pop inspired debut that is mostly enjoyable.
The disc starts right out with the title song. As you might have guessed, it talks about true beauty coming from with in and not confirming to societies standards. The song has a soft rock flair that makes it fun if not completely original. Frankly, that pretty much describes the rest of the disc. It's got fun moments, but they aren't original enough to be captivating. "Love Like You Loved" has a nice island flair. "Stand for You" reminds us what we should be standing up for in this world. I have finally found a prodigal song that had to grow on me. "Prodigal Like Me" didn't grab me right away, but once I got into it, I did start to enjoy the mix of familiar Bible stories with a cry to lose the wayward heart. "See the Wind" is one of the slower moments on the disc as Jonny sings of the desire for his faith to be sight. I love it. But my favorite track is the bonus cut, "The Opener." This song cracks me up and Jonny sings honestly what life is like for the opening act at a concert. I foresee a problem, this will become a fan favorite, so how can he sing it when he's the headliner? Stylistically, this is a safe pop, release. There's enough variety to keep my ear, but it doesn't try anything to make it stand out. I have a feeling that Jonny has much more in him than this. I'm interested in seeing how he grows as an artist. |
