Not as flame throwing as the debut but just as funny .,

Yea,ok,so some peaple (chiefly women and some PC pusheads) probably will find Lee Vings misanthropy semi-offensive at least. But after your done making MORE BEERS subject matter your focal point (assuming you actually believe Ving is any consequential theat to society) its understood that MORE BEER again shows anyone who is at all familiar with the old LA hardcore scene that FEAR could outplay more than half thier peers. The album opens up with THE TROUBLE TODAY WITH WOMEN THE MOUTH DONT STOP with Vings volcals evoking images of a young Bruce Springsteen. And damned if its not one of the funniest albums i have ever heard. Lead Guitarist Philo Cramers axe smokes throughout the whole she-bang expecially the opening riffs on STRANGULATION.A definite must have for any hardcore harpie like myself.

It comes from an appearance by Fear on "New Wave Theater" (or "New Wave TV"?). I can't think of the host's name but that is how he introduces the band. Incidentally, the album's great. Almost as great as their first. I saw Fear in '96 and--make no mistake--on that night they were the best rock band on the planet. An awe-inspiring live band.

Saw Fear in 1982! Now and forever a great band. This Lp isnt as good as Fear The Record but is a classic anyway. The Trouble with Women(the mouth don't stop) and Null Detector are great as well as the rest of the LP. Don't listen to the PC Police who can't take a joke.Fear Rocks! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

No match for "The Record", but it has its moments...,
This review is from: More Beer (Audio CD)
'The Mouth Don't Stop' (written by lead guitarist Philo Cramer) is a great opening track, 'Null Detector' and 'Strangulation' are nasty, breakneck rockers in the Fear tradition, and 'Welcome to the Dust Ward' is an eerie, compelling, strangely humorless dirge narrated by a patient in a mental institution. On the down side, there's quite a bit of filler ('Responsibility', 'Hey', 'Waiting for the Meat'), but vocalist/rhythm guitarist/crowd-inciter extraordinaire Lee Ving is in fine form throughout. No one in the punk world has a better set of pipes.
"More Beer" is by no means a great album (it marks the beginning of Fear's descent into self-parody with endless beer-themed songs), but it's a fun listen overall and deserves to be back in print. Incidentally, my friend's old copy has the bonus tracks--'I Love Livin' in the City' and 'Now You're Dead' from Fear's 1977 debut single--listed on the back cover, but they aren't on the CD. Does anyone have a copy of "More Beer" that actually contains the bonus tracks?

If you're antisocial and you like beer (I mean, _really_ like beer), then this is the album for you. If you ain't, then what good are you anyway?

Laugh-out loud funny and some jamming music,

One of the funniest albums I've ever heard. Cheerfully moronic lyrics and some very good music. The guitarist, especially, is very good on the song I Am A Doctor and Strangulation. The drumming is very impressive and keeps a tight, solid beat on Responsibility, Hey, The Mouth Won't Stop and others. The lunkheaded earnestness of the vocals combined with the willfully stupid and offensive lyrics is laugh-out-loud funny, something which few albums can accomplish. Especially funny are the title track, Have a Beer With Fear, Bomb The Russians, the vocals on Strangulation (which has some willfully stupid, misogynist lyrics) and I Am A Doctor. The way the lead vocalist sings "let's make love" on the latter song is worth buying the album. The last few songs kind of peter out, but overall a very fun album.

essential music for leftist benefits,

The night i had the chance to see fear i ended up at some leftist benefit at a friend of a friends house. They had plenty of good wine there and cheese dips ect but the irony of missing the gig and being with these bottom feeders never left me. Fear really are a band on their own unique trip, nothing quite sounds like them. Lee Ving finds effortless ways to be offensive to all those wishing to take the bait. More Beer and The Record are my favorite long plays of theirs, but their later cd's are good also. Describing their sound is difficult, let's try redneck early 80's hardcore with vocals being mixed high above the music and musical influences being broad amongst the punk scene. So please learn from my mistake, if your caught with the peace/love and "i feel your pain" set and your sick of hearing the latest Bob Dylan cd then spice up the party with "More Beer", I'm sure it will be appreciated. Thank you, Human Rights Watch Downunder President Snicko

This is punk at it's funniest. Every song makes me roar with laughter. It's actually like musical slapstick. It's very raw but nonsensical. I love it.
