5.0 out of 5 stars Slower doesn't equal sellout.....
Punk music is known for its aggression and simplicity. People seem to always expect it to be played at 150 mph, and so when a great band like No Use For a Name releases an album that has some obvious alterations to their previous style, people starting crying "sellout" when they simply want to try new things. People, truly great bands are those who like to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, Not the Best
All the songs sound very similar, you'll find yourself wanting to listen to something else after about 6 or 7 tracks. Kind of slow, even somewhat boring. But it's not the worst punk album i've listened to.

Punk music is known for its aggression and simplicity. People seem to always expect it to be played at 150 mph, and so when a great band like No Use For a Name releases an album that has some obvious alterations to their previous style, people starting crying "sellout" when they simply want to try new things. People, truly great bands are those who like to explore with their sound. And if you really listen to the lyrics, NUFAN has put down some of their most powerful songs to date on this album, especially "Life Size Mirror" and "Pride." Yes, these are two of the slower-tempo songs many of you mentioned. Note that the Sex Pistols did not play at 150 mph in any of their songs, and they were punk in every sense of the term. I would definitely recommend this album to any fan who appreciates addictive melodies and insightful lyrics. S

5.0 out of 5 stars soft and emotional but very good, November 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: More Betterness (Audio CD)
This new album from NUFAN is a little softer and slower than most of their other releases, but it is the best cd to buy that is a little soft and emotional. If you have listened to any of the lyrics to the other NUFAN Cd's you would notice that they are enotional too. It's nothing new. They just have more harmony in this cd. It's like a sing-along cd. something your mom would even like. When I say it's slow thats only some songs I still get a rush out of some of the good build-up's on tracks like 9, 11, 1, they're all good.

This cd is the best cd you will ever buy. No Use's other stuff is pretty good, but this new cd is punk like you've never heard before, it is so rad! I swear that the second you listen to it, you won't take it out of your cd player. It's awesome. I like how every song has a meaning and you can totally tell that the lyrics are heart-felt. Buy it....NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great cd, January 7, 2000
This review is from: More Betterness (Audio CD)
I think More Betterness is probably their best album. I don't know what you guys are talking about when you say how their new style is not as good as their older style. Just because they came out of their hardcore punk style and came into real original punk doesn't make them not sound good. You guys are just stuborn and don't want to change. They did a great job and this is one of those expreesional albums. Great job N.U.F.A.N.!

because, like i said before, this album takes some getting used to. But MAN if this isn't the best album I have ever heard, it sure is close. This is a change for No Use but oh man is it ever a great album. not that there's anything wrong with the old stuff... my faves are tracks 1 through 14- in other words, there are no weak songs here.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST NO USE yet!, February 13, 2000
This review is from: More Betterness (Audio CD)
An amazing CD. I haven't taken it out of my CD player since i got it. The arrangement of music i have heard from a punk band since NOFX-The Decline. 45 minutes long too, that's almost two punk albums. Buy the CD. I have seen them live twice and on the 23rd i'll see them again.

5.0 out of 5 stars NUFAN ROCKS!, July 6, 2000

I never listened to NUFAN before I bought this CD, a friend recommended it. I loved it the first time i listened to it. The melodies are catchy and the lyrics are meaningful for the most part. Life Size Mirror and Not Your Savior are my favorite songs, but there is not a bad song on here. If you like catchy pop-punk like Fenix*TX, Blink 182, or MxPx, i strongly recommend getting this album.

I think More Betterness is great... I listen to the whole album and don't get bored... But I know without even reading other reviews that a lot of punks will probably dis it for being too calm. It is kind of low energy, but the songs are great (Coming Too Close and Why Doesn't Anybody Like Me rank among the best NUFAN songs) and you ought to give it a chance.
