5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Better than the first one!
I bought the first book just for the wonderful measuring info, I didn't like the patterns in it at all. Not so with this one. LOTS of sizing and measuring info that does not feel like repeats from the first book. A WONDERFUl way to design your own sweater that will FIT! It rocks!Beautiful, beautiful patterns. Sweaters, socks, shawls, even purses! This book is one every...

3.0 out of 5 stars A good start, but get Joan McGowan-Michael's book instead
I am VERY glad that someone has FINALLY taken it upon themselves to write about good fit and flattering shape in knitwear, as well as publishing PLUS-SIZED patterns. You'd think the yarn companies would be tripping over themselves to put out plus-sized patterns so they could sell more yarn, but alas, they haven't figured this out yet... In any case, I have both this and...

This is it, what I have been looking and waiting for.

This is the Best Ever Book on knitting for the Big Girls.

There are some wonderful patterns in this book that I am actually going to use without modifying them, I like them so much Just The Way They Are. The women in the photos look great in their big girls knits, the text is highly readable (not boring) and full of advice just for us. There is a full page Yarn Yardage Chart based on type of garment, gauge, and bust measurement that I am going to xerox and put in my purse! (It will be with me for next year's Stitches West.)

To the authors, you've done a great job. This book is better than your last. I am looking forward eagerly to you next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for everyone, April 7, 2008
This review is from: More Big Girl Knits: 25 Designs Full of Color and Texture for Curvy Women (Hardcover)
The first Big Girl Knits book revolutionized the way we think about knitting for women of all sizes by emphasizing knitting items that fit and flatter YOU. Not some made-up measurements for size X, but your actual size. Jillian Moreno and Amy R. Singer are back with an all-new collection of beautiful garments for ample knitters that focus on choosing yarns, colorwork, stitch patterns and more that look great in patterns that are fun to knit. It's a challenge picking just one project to get started on, as they're all beautiful and use gorgeous yarns you won't be able to resist.

Check out the Knitgrrl Show podcast on iTunes for an interview with Moreno about this book and other plus-sized knitting topics -- she's a wealth of information on a much-needed topic in knitting books! More Big Girl Knits and Big Girl Knits should be a part of every knitter's library for the fun, conversational tone of their introductions alone. I love these books, and frequently recommend them to shoppers in the knitting store next door who are looking for great patterns in their size.

Hot damn, I love these patterns! I've still got a huge stash of yarn set aside for the first book and I'm going to add to the pile to do as many of the patterns as possible from this one! Even when I wasn't heavy, I was a "big girl", with a lot of curves. These patterns are flattering and are a lot of fun to knit. The directions on different shaping methods and the body types the patterns are designed for are very well written with a great sense of humor. Don't stop now! I'll buy the next book too!

... and for the people who knit for them.

Love the book. It's a great follow-up to Big Girl Knits, with more techniques and patterns that flatter bigger women.

It's written for big girls who are frustrated with trying to find patterns that fit and flatter, but would be useful for anyone who knits for a larger girl.

This book is even better than the first one if that's possible. The sweaters etc. are very pretty and stylish. Their writing is very humorous and kept me laughing as I enjoyed looking over the patterns. I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good start, but get Joan McGowan-Michael's book instead, December 22, 2009
A Kid's Review
I am VERY glad that someone has FINALLY taken it upon themselves to write about good fit and flattering shape in knitwear, as well as publishing PLUS-SIZED patterns. You'd think the yarn companies would be tripping over themselves to put out plus-sized patterns so they could sell more yarn, but alas, they haven't figured this out yet... In any case, I have both this and the previous Big Girl Knits books and of the two, the first one is better in terms of the patterns, and neither of them hold a candle to Knitting Lingerie Style by Joan McGowan-Michael, which has plenty of larger-sized patterns that are more feminine and fitted in the right places. The Big Girls books do have good clothing fit/flatter advice, however, and the fact that smaller-diameter yarns do add nice drape to a garment is important to heed.

I really only purchased this second book to show the publishers there is a demand for plus-sized pattern books in general, in hopes of seeing more, because only a few of the patterns were attractive; some others may be better if the colors were swapped out to not make your eyes bleed. It's a good start, and I look with hope to the future that the authors will add some more tailoring to the shapes of their future projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Women Have Curves!!, July 23, 2008
This review is from: More Big Girl Knits: 25 Designs Full of Color and Texture for Curvy Women (Hardcover)
Thank Heaven for Jillian Moreno and Amy Singer! They have come up with beautiful clothing for us Big Gals. Lise Varrette's photography is exceptional! The choice of models for each piece is like it was made for them! The patterns are clear and easy to follow. Their style of writing makes me feel like I'm learning from good friends. Right now I'm working on the Susie Hoodie and can hardly wait to finish it.

So little time, so many great patterns to knit! I highly recommend this book - and Big Girl Knits - for any Big Girl. Thanks to Jillian and Amy for helping us Bodacious Babes flaunt what we got!!

This review is from: More Big Girl Knits: 25 Designs Full of Color and Texture for Curvy Women (Hardcover)
This just arrived today and already I have my next five or six knitting projects planned -- the patterns are GORGEOUS and the writing style makes me feel confident I can tackle these beautiful pieces. Can't wait for "Still More" from Moreno and Singer. I also can't emphasize enough how good for my own self-esteem it is to see so many photos of joyous, generously-sized women wearing clothes they love. Wearable art is for people of all sizes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, May 9, 2008
This review is from: More Big Girl Knits: 25 Designs Full of Color and Texture for Curvy Women (Hardcover)
I liked the first book and found this to be an excellent followup. I'm a novice knitter so I still have a learning curve, but this book has excellent pictures and a nice variety of patterns. The book is written in a fun style with a humorous approach.
