Booka Shade - More!, October 28, 2011
MORE!, from Booka Shade, offers, well, more... More solid grooves (as on "Havanna Sex Dwarf" in all its off-kilter glory), more melodic techno (as on "Donut (Interpretation)"), more melancholic tech-house (as on the stunning "Regenerate" or on "Teenage Spaceman"). In short, more of what we love about Booka Shade. Dieter Meier (better known as Yello) lends his spoken word to "Divine," a slinky piece of electro that'll make you go, 'Oh, yeah.' The warm build and vocal perambulations of "Scaramanga" accrete to a throbbing rhythm, while the slower "L.A.tely" burrows into your soul. The final track, the slyly perky "This is Not the Time," will leave you wanted -- you guessed it -- more. Let's all channel the spirit of Oliver Twist on this one.
