No More Diapers = More Undies,
By Amy Steele "quirky mama" (Western NC, Land of the Mullets With Tails) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: No More Diapers (Sesame Street/Golden Book) (Paperback)
Move over Dr. Spock and Dr. Sears...here comes Betty Lou. I am dead serious- this book lays out the whole potty deal better than a pro can. Betty Lou notices that diapers feel uncomfy, then is encouraged to begin training due to Zoe coming to daycare with undies on instead of a diaper. Betty Lou practices with Mommy, and has small accidents here and there, until she goes potty all by herself. She then finally moves up to the "big-girl pants". Somehow, this book just clicks with toddlers who are endeavoring to get off the diaper habit. The illustration where Betty Lou's diaper is slipping off under her swimsuit is hilarious because her mom has a huge smile on her face while it is happening- it always cracks us up. Other odd tidbits: Betty Lou's doll resembles Goldie Hawn, Betty Lou's ma seems like she's straight from the late 1960's, and the department store clerk has an early 80's vibe (she has a bowl cut with just a touch of a mullet). My favorite, true-to-life page: "And sometimes Mommy forgot to stop and let me go potty.". Rejoice, parents: Sesame Street wisdom coupled with Muppets can change our lives for the better (more money, less shallow breathing while changing #2 diapers). Copyright of book: 1995.
