A More Excellent Way has affected my life profoundly. Most of all, it has made the Bible come alive for me again, and helped me to really believe God for my healing. It is a very encouraging book. The author maintains that 80% of all illnesses have spiritual roots; if you restrict this to chronic illnesses, which allopathic medicine has little successs with, I would agree with him.

The book seems like it is a long transcription of a seminar that the author, a pastor, gives, and although it seems to ramble at times, I found everything in it useful and practical. I was greatly inspired by his digressions. He makes it clear that his very successful ministry (especially to people with MCS/EI) is in its embryonic stage, and that there is much more to learn in this area. He is very honest and straightforward.

The whole book is very Bible-based. It answers the question, "What if everything in the Bible WERE really true and for today, especially about healing?"...I know that might sound like it's a "name it and claim it" book (but it's not) or like it's a book that puts people down who get prayer but don't get instantly healed (but it's not). Instead it's a book that deals with WHY people might not be healed and practically WHAT they can do from a spiritual perspective. I do not feel condemned or put down because I have not yet been fully healed; instead I feel excited about the spiritual healing the Lord is doing and will continue to do...and so at peace about the physical manifestations and the symptoms and the pain I currently have. I look so forward to continuing to follow the healing steps of the "walk out" and to the work that the Lord is doing in my life because of this book.

The end of the book is filled with pages of testimonies (including very detailed MCS/EI testimonies) that are incredibly uplifting, even for people without this particular illness.

If you are ill, discouraged because you've received prayer but are not yet healed, need encouragement or uplifting, I strongly recommend this book. It will bless you and is well worth the money. I would suggest buying it new or in "like new" condition if you could afford it at all because it is a book you will want to refer to often and keep forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Contains Really Needed Information, July 8, 2004

My life has been exceedingly blessed and changed by the information in this book. I was sick for 20 years with many incurable diseases and very very miserable. I had researched many different types of christian therapies and alternative medicines to no avail. When I applied the information here i started to get better and better. I can now say without a doubt that i no longer have those diseases or problems that always plagued me. I have a life that is not ruled by doctors, medical tests and pills. The Lord has blessed me so very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Freedom, September 19, 2004

This review is from: A More Excellent Way : A Teaching on the Spiritual Roots of Disease (Paperback)
This book was the beginning of a new life for me. I was a highly functioning, driven person until becoming sick with Chronic Fatigue at age 24. I tried everything I could to get better; Western Medicine, Chinese Medicine, vibrational medicine, special diets, tons of suppliments and pills. THOUSANDS of dollars. Nothing was permenant, and by the third year, the autoimmune Hashimoto's disease was added to the mix. I was desprate. My mom tried to get me to read this book years ago, but I rejected any thought of spiritual healing because of the quacks on TV. But once I tried everything else, I thought, "ok, what the heck." This book's teaching is nothing like the strange "healers" on TV. I didn't understand why I was sick and why God would let me stay this way. But now I do. It's the spirit-mind-body connection. Now I am a fully functioning, healthy person. Why? Because I no longer agree with Fear, Anxiety, Rebellion, Resentment, Bitterness. I was not magically healed. The health was just a byproduct of my coming into a right relationship with God. It's not about a magical formula, it's about a relationship with God the Father and with others. Henry Wright explains it thoroughly.
Also, my husband now has a bowl of cereal every morning, while he was once lactose intolerant. He identified a specific Fear and no longer accepted it. Gone was the Fear, gone was the lactose intolerance too. I also know a lady who no longer needs her glasses, and another who also was healed from Chronic Fatigue. When you read this book, be ready for a change of heart and understanding.
Yes, Henry Wright might come off as lofty at times. Don't take offense. He calls himself a "buffalo" and sometimes he might step on people's toes, but his heart is true, and his insight from God is truth. Don't worry about the KJV. I was wary about that too, but he explained it at a seminar that I went to later, and it's nothing legalistic. My bottom line...there is hope for health! Don't perish for lack of understanding. This book gives you the understanding, and it's up to you to decide what to do with it.
Some people might have a "theological" bone to pick with the
author. There is a difference between head theology and real life. Jesus functioned in real life, healing and loving people. Of course there were people that had theological problems with him too. God met me in my sickness in real life through this book and now I'm well. That is the Father God that I have grown to know. Someone could try to have a theological discussion with me as to why my healing is not real. But to me it's a moot point. I can get up in the morning and function like a normal human being. That's real and that's my life.

This review is from: A More Excellent Way : A Teaching on the Spiritual Roots of Disease (Paperback)
This book has helped me put together the pieces of the puzzle of the Christian life . Every person needs a working knowledge of the things taught here . I personally have been set free from tormenting sin through this ministry . I've come to a place , through these insights from God's Word , where I'm confident that we can appropriate Gods healing and deliverance . If healing , or deliverance are not obtained after ministry , simply work through the " Blocks to healing " list . Gods will IS that we have perfect health , but we must line up with Gods Word to appropriate it . I've been convinced of the authority that I've been given through Christ , to minister healing and deliverance . This book provides a working reference for ministering to the sick , and or oppressed . I carry it everywhere , along with my Bible . It is the best book I've ever read , except for the Bible , of course .
Pastor Henry Wright , and all the pastors , and ministers at Pleasant Valley Church are ministering to thousands who come from all over the world to be healed and delivered , and to learn to do the same for others . They work long hours , and live very modestly . My wife and I spent a week with them , and I know .
The book , the pastor , and the church behind them are all the real deal ! I praise God for all of them , because His ministry through them to me has been instrumental in bringing the Kingdom of God to me and mine .

Pastor Wright is saying something we all know, that our emotions can cause disease, but he puts Scriptural references that show that sin in our lives, including fear, anxiety, self-hatred, etc., can be dealt with, and we can be made well by the power of God. Some might think this is "weird", but the Bible teaches that God wants us healthy, so why not read this book and find out how to get well?

This book has opened my eyes to a lot about myself, my illness and it's root cause and how Satan and his kingdom works here on Earth. I learned more through the teachings in this book than in 30 years of going to church regularly and Sunday School. All pastors and churches should be teaching the principles, as given to us by God, in this book! Anyone who is battling illness could gain insight, not only am I benefitting but I have several friends who were devastated with illness and are now totally healed after applying the principles outlined by Pastor Wright in this wonderful book. The testimonies are real, I know some of the people. Do yourself a favor and get this book!

This review is from: A More Excellent Way : A Teaching on the Spiritual Roots of Disease (Paperback)
Although I agree with much of what is written in this book I would like to draw your attention to the authors own warning. This or any other book should not become a method, a science, a formula, or a quick fix to take the place of a relationship with God. Unfortunately I have already seen what can happen when information like this gets into the hands of the legalist. Legalism results in condemnation and guilt. This is not a book for a novice or new Christian. I take exception of the King James View only view and it raises a yellow flag. It automatically puts me on the alert to scrutize the material more thoroughly for a hidden agenda. If you read this book please rely on God's wisdom in using it. It may be better to lead someone to find a spiritual root for a desease than to point it out to them. It may also be better to mentor someone to yield their life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and it will be amazing that many of the roots will be exposed by the Holy Spirit. Than you are in a relational position to lead someone in healing armed with the information you have learned in this book. As with e-mails it is hard to know the authors voice inflections and body language. But a few times I sensed the author to be a bit condensending or lofty in his presentation. One other concern I have is the lack of any recognized endorsements from well known leaders in the Body of Christ. This does not mean the work is not noteworthy but it certainly helps to have endorsements of people we have learned to trust over the years and who paved a way in spiritual warfare. Please use the information in this book guided by wisdom of Holy Spirit and with the humility of Jesus Christ.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Simple and Powerful Prescription For Healing, February 15, 2004
By
Peter Kenney (Birmingham, Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: A More Excellent Way : A Teaching on the Spiritual Roots of Disease (Paperback)
In A MORE EXCELLENT WAY Pastor Wright gives us a clear prescription for healing which is both simple and powerful. The author believes that most diseases have spiritual roots and are the result of separation on three levels. These can be summed up as separation from God, yourself and others.

All spiritual healing begins with the sick person coming back into alignment with God and His Word, accepting himself or herself in right relationship to God and making peace with others. There are many spiritual blocks to healing and the most important one is unforgiveness.

Pastor Henry Wright emphasizes the prevention of disease and appreciates that spirit, mind and body are interconnected in this effort. A large section of this book is devoted to a discussion of individual diseases and their respective spiritual root causes.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Resource for Biblical Healing, November 15, 2001
By
This book is a must for anyone involved in prayer-based healing and deliverance, and for those who find themselves victims of persistent and/or incurable diseases. It provides invaluable information about the spiritual roots of many common illnesses. (Some of these spiritual roots are inherited...just as the tendency for the disease is inherited!)

However, I agree with the "caution" below, that the information in this book is not for legalists and novices. It must be used under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Much harm can come from telling others that their diseases are caused by certain spiritual roots...especially if it's done in a direct, forceful, and unloving way. We must use this information as Jesus would. He did not lecture those who came to him for help about the spiritual roots of their diseases. He forgave their sins (and thus healed the spiritual wounds feeding the problems), rebuked the disease, and healed the person...physically and spiritually. They left feeling healed and liberated, not condemned for their faithlessness or sinfulness!

The book has a very strong Biblical base, and is also based on much work "in the trenches" of an international healing ministry.

One of my favorite part of the book is the chapter on blocks to healing. It is both convicting and enlightening.

I pray that this book will help many to overcome the harm done by the "spiritual forces of evil" (Ephesians 6:12), and to resist the enemy who "prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8).
