To help her stay motivated Tawni looked for a method, a system, any sort of approach to life to help her achieve her goals of losing weight, getting fit, and finally being a happy person. When she was truly honest with herself, Tawni understood that to achieve these goals entailed a mind, body, spirit transformation. She also realized she couldn't do it alone.
Ongoing Support
Tawni came up with a creative way to help herself and help others at the same time. She developed an online support group called ConnectingConnectors.com. Her site has since become the source of ongoing inspiration and motivation for over 20,000 people (and growing) who receive a daily "thought for the day" plus a regular health and fitness update. Tawni also shares her own challenges and victories as she strives to keep the weight off, maintain her fitness and live a happy, fulfilling life.
Spreading the word
No More Excuses includes the steps Tawni has taken to change her life, how to adopt the right attitude and frame of mind, the best workout program, how to make eating a positive experience, many inspiring stories from the Connectors, and much more. Working from the belief that she did it, so can you - we'll do it together - Tawni seeks to inspire everyone with the idea that we control our own lives and will accept no more excuses!
Start changing your life today
In September 1996, inspired by Oprah's work with Bob Greene, Tawni Gomes began to "Make the Connection" with her mind, body, and spirit. Losing 100 pounds in three years, Tawni completely transformed herself in the process, taking control of what had been a lifelong struggle with weight. This change didn't happen without the help of many supporters. Tawni knew she couldn't do it alone and needed to come up with creative ways to reach her health and fitness goals.
"Tawni has inspired a new generation of exercisers with her story and the direct support she send to thousands every day. This book will help others to follow her lead." -Jeff Galloway, 1972 Olympian, Runner's World Columnist
"Tawni Gomes if offering hope. She is reaching out to people looking to become both fit and happy with themselves at the same time." --Joe Henderson, fitness expert and columnist, Runner's World
Tawni's belief is "I did it, so can you. We'll do it together." So she developed an online support group for other people looking to change their lives. The result is Connectingconnectors.com, a network of encouragement and inspiration that stretches across the entire country and beyond. Tawni not only transformed her own life, but she has helped many women and men take control of their lives.

It can change your life!,
By Nikki Phillips (Morehead City, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No More Excuses! Choose to be Fit, Healthy and Happy (Hardcover)
A great inspirational read! Tawni inspired me to quit 'waiting until I am thin' and start living in the moment. Over the last year I have lost fifty pounds and gone from walking a mile to running for six. My next goal is a half marathon. I NEVER thought that would be possible - I was 'too old' and 'too heavy'. What an incredible idea to be told that it didn't matter, that all I needed was the determination to do it. Set a goal and work towards it , one baby step at a time, and you'll get there. What a joy it is to participate in life instead of just being a spectator. This book will inspire you to believe that you can do more than you ever thought you could. I still have some weight to lose, but I'm on my way with a new attitude toward fitness and myself. My whole life has changed in a dramatic way - yours can, too.

Taking charge - becoming a non-victim,
By Barbara J. Jobe (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No More Excuses! Choose to be Fit, Healthy and Happy (Hardcover)
After completing Tawni's book, I realized her book can be used by thousands. Thousands who are, in their lives, victims. Victims who do not have the courage to take charge and change their lives for the better. Yes, Tawni writes about running and exercise, but those are avenues she chose to accomplish her goal of becoming a non-victim. Baby steps, as she talks about in her book, are the necessary tools to go forward in life. Baby step after baby step applied to all facets of life will soon add up to one large step. In her book, Tawni explains how to do this, how to deal with the frustrations along the way and how to reward oneself when reaching a short term goal. She is also very clear that this goal can be accomplished by no one except oneself. Self-help? No, she just presents the information in a way that one can sit back and think and believe........."I CAN do this. I DO believe in myself. And, most of all, it is OK if I take a while to reach my goal. At least I am going forward." As Tawni says in her book, "there is no finish line."

FRESH/MOTIVATING INFORMATION,
By
This review is from: No More Excuses! Choose to be Fit, Healthy and Happy (Hardcover)
This book tells you exactly what will help you to reach your fitness goals because it is very clear and to the point. It talks about situations we all encounter in our quest for fitness and health. Tawni speaks so openly about her own struggles that I'm sure you can relate. Tawni is honest, warm, articulate and informative. What I liked about the book so much is that it is written by someone like US - not a doctor, dietician, nurse, etc. someone that is at my level when it comes to the weight loss situation. She instantly becomes your best friend. The best part is that it doesn't concentrate on the "d" (diet) word. If you're looking for something fresh and motivating - read the book.
