May the funk be with you..., November 28, 2000
This review is from: More I Get (Audio CD)
This is awesome and sadly unrecognized quality house music. Most will only know the title track (an instant classic if ever there was one), but there is loads more to discover here. Real house funkin' tunes abound, most with a strong emotive feel.
It probably isn't most peoples idea of 3am peaktime music, but it was never meant to be. This CD can be played anywhere from the car on the way to the gig, or zombified on the sofa after it. This would GO OFF at house parties!! Play "East West" and see what I mean. The CD is rare in that it manages to succesfully combine an organic feel without losing any of the razor sharp funk or energy.
Check this out if you like the works of Doc Martin, David Morales (at his funkiest), DJ Sneak, Paul Johnson or even Kevin Yost's tougher moments. You'll probably like this if you're into the San Francisco sound of Naked Music, Mark Farina or even the old Chicago sounds like Frankie Knuckles.
Get on it, this is great.

What isn't "house" ??, March 10, 2007

i marvel at what some call house music. discogs calls this: downtempo future jazz. windows media player lists it as: jazz. i believe they call themselves a: "soul, jazz & funk with attitude" band?? the title cut has an r&b flavor - after all it is a cover of teddy prendergrass' philly classic. whatever you call it... this release jams... and you won't find yourself "fatigued" half way through it either as the players obviously have some chops. those in the know see the content here as many of these cuts have been remixed by all sorts of people. definitely worth a listen!
