4.0 out of 5 stars Bobby Vinton's Lost 45's
A very different album from 1964's "Greatest Hits", this collection of chart entries includes ten of Vinton's releases from August of 1964 through July of 1966. While none of these songs achieved number one status, this album contains some very strong selections and sinces all of the material did indeed grace the Hot 100, it is a true Greatest Hits set...

3.0 out of 5 stars It was way too early for a second Vinton hits collection
"More of Bobby Vinton's Greatest Hits" came out in 1966, which was only two years after the original "Bobby Vinton's Greatest Hits," which included all four of his #1 songs (e.g., "Blue Velvet," "Mr. Lonely"). The singer was well on his way to be the crooner of the Sixties but then came along the Beatles and the British Invasion...

A very different album from 1964's "Greatest Hits", this collection of chart entries includes ten of Vinton's releases from August of 1964 through July of 1966. While none of these songs achieved number one status, this album contains some very strong selections and sinces all of the material did indeed grace the Hot 100, it is a true Greatest Hits set. "Clinging Vine", left off the earlier "GH" in favor of "Mr. Lonely" is the oldest of the group, having hit #17 in September of 1964. "Long Lonely Nights", the hit follow-up to "Mr. Lonely" is also featured here."Tears" available only on this album, is a highlight of this collection. Vinton is in fine rich voice and gives the song the full treatment. Other material first released on CD here includes "Dum De Da" and "Petticoat White" which was Bobby's current hit at the time of the original album's release. The album features a great cover painting by Sid Maurer in an orange hue,in an effort to boost sales during the Halloween season of 1966. First released on CD by Epic in 1989.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rare songs on this CD, May 9, 2010

I have three other Vinton GH CD's but as far as I know this is the only compilation to ever include "Lonely Girl"--theme from "Harlow" (1965). Not a memorable film or a big Vinton hit compared to his higher profile work, but it is a personal favorite of mine. I am pleased to have added it to my collection. There are a few other tunes also on this CD also missing from other compilations. As you hear them you'll remember them but, again, they are lesser known titles within his primary body of work. If you have Vinton on your iPod, adding several tunes from this CD will allow you to create a more complete GH playlist. Oh, and this CD nor most of its songs are NOT available on iTunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars NO FILLER HERE, February 20, 2010

This is a good CD. Usually "greatest hit" packages contain some fodder or b-sides. Not this one. Every song on the CD charted as an A-side. Some tunes are really great such as "Petticoat White" and "Clinging Vine". These would be in the hard-to-find singles section at your local record store. Did I say record store? What is that about?

5.0 out of 5 stars More of Bobby Vinton's Greatest Hits, April 12, 2009

I was so happy when I found this CD because it contained "Petticoat White". Who knew that a single song would be so hard to find. It's one of my dad's favorites, and he didn't want the anthology which had more songs than he wanted, so this CD was perfect for him, as it had all of his "must have" songs and it didn't cost over $100.00.

"More of Bobby Vinton's Greatest Hits" came out in 1966, which was only two years after the original "Bobby Vinton's Greatest Hits," which included all four of his #1 songs (e.g., "Blue Velvet," "Mr. Lonely"). The singer was well on his way to be the crooner of the Sixties but then came along the Beatles and the British Invasion. The ten tracks on this album represent about the same amount of time recording as the first collection but this time there are just a pair of Top Twenty hits, "Lone Lonely Nights" and "Clinging Vine," both of which only made in to #17 on the charts ("L-O-N-E-L-Y" is the best song on the album, fitting perfectly Vinton's strength in singing songs that were both melancholy and syrupy). As a result, this album falls into sort of a dead zone. If you want only one or two Bobby Vinton albums in your music library then you should skip this one and go for one of the more comprehensive hits collections available. If you really love Bobby Vinton, then you are better off getting the CD reissues of his original albums, which would give you all of these songs and the proverbial much, much more.
