The true meaning of manga,
By
This review is from: More How To Draw Manga Volume 4: Mastering Bishoujo Characters (Paperback)
Okay, this is going to be my first review on Amazon. I'm from The Netherlands, so my English is not perfect. Please forgive me if there are some weird words or sentences in this review, I'm only 15... ;)
I'm a huge fan of manga and anime, not only on TV or in video games, but I also like drawing it myself. I've collected several books about drawing manga, and More How To Draw Manga: Mastering Bishoujo Characters is one of them. Well, what can I say about this book... It's MARVELOUS!! It is such a great book! As I said before, I've got several books about drawing manga, and this is without a doubt the best one! It teaches you how you can perfectly draw different bishoujo characters. Their traits of character, what kind of clothes they wear, how they like to do their hear... Eyes, noses, mouths, cheeks... This book has got it all. It really helped me to get acquainted with all kinds of girls and how I could draw them with their characteristic marks. I'd definitely recommend this book to all of you!! Here's a description of the contents of this book: Chapter 1: Twelve Character Types - Using Impressions to Portray the Twelve Character Types - Key Points in Distinguishing the Twelve Character Types - Twelve Character Types (such as the shy girl, the cutie, the bully, the imp, the princess, the bad girl and more) - Height Distinctions - Selecting Costumes That Match The Character - Uniform Portrayal - Tricks to Designing Uniforms - Techniques in Character Image Design Chapter 2: Making the Figure Move - The fundamentals of Character Movements - Walking Scenes - Drawing Characters Entering through Doors - Popular Relaxed, Conversational Poses - Hand Gestures in Conversation Scenes - Running, Leaping, Falling: Three basic Action Poses - Figures and Cars There are a lot of descriptions in this book, but even more beautiful art work. The drawings are absolutely beautiful. This is, in my opinion, the true meaning of manga!! Don't hesitate, just buy it: you won't regret it! Or, as we say in The Netherlands: Mensen, dit boek is echt te gek! Als je van manga tekenen houdt, is dit boek echt een must! Echt kopen dan, daar zul je echt geen spijt van krijgen! Kimmy

Very nice and detailed,
This review is from: More How To Draw Manga Volume 4: Mastering Bishoujo Characters (Paperback)
First off, I just want to say that you must have some experince in drawing manga already, as this book does not start from the basics; it assumes you have a good foundation in anatomy, basically. But for those who are already into drawing, this book is invaluable. It covers the 12 different types of personalities of bishoujo ("pretty girl" in Japanese) in manga, from the self-confident Strong Girl to the refined, delicate Princess. It essntially shows the reader how to imbue personality and emotion into the character (to avoid the "they all have the same face!" syndrome) by showing how to alter facial features (e.g. longer, thinner faces project a more mature, older look), clothing styles, posture, etc. If you want to improve on your skills in drawing bishoujo, definitely get this book...

Excellent, Excellent!!,
This review is from: More How To Draw Manga Volume 4: Mastering Bishoujo Characters (Paperback)
Well, this is one of my most favorite How to draw Manga books I ever bought. At first, I though it would be inapropriate just by looking at the cover... But, I was wrong. This book shows how to draw girls by their personality, like strong girls, vulnerable girls, straight-laced girls, cute girls, and even more! There's 12 personalities in all, which is a good variety. Also, it shows how to make different types of clothing, depending on what personality the girl you want to draw has. There's many more stuff in this book, but I haven't really explored\read them yet.If you have problems that all your characters look the same in some way, and\or you want to show their personalities even more? This book is perfect!! I gave it 5 stars for a good reason. If you have a list of what to buy here at amazon, give this book a try. There's a really good chance that you won't be dissapointed!
