5.0 out of 5 stars Watershed is back with a vengence!, December 12, 2002
By
This review is from: The More It Hurts, The More It Works (Audio CD)
A few years ago I was at a Watershed show and they played some of their "new" material that was going to be part of thier next album. Absolutely blew me away. After years of anticipation The More it Hurts, The more it Works has finally arrived. It lives up to every expectation and beyond. These hard-working musicians never gave up after being dropped from Epic and now finally seem poised for the big time. The pairing of this group and Tim Patalan (Sponge,Hoarse) works perfectly to being out Watershed's true potential. This album is filled with catchy rock athems that will be in your head for days and must be experienced at full volume. These guys stick to their roots and are rock true and through. Drinking, high energy, and fun shows. This disc captures the true Watershed spirit. If you are going to purchase one of their discs this is the one to get.

5.0 out of 5 stars Radio ready, Power Pop is back, May 13, 2002

Watershed finally put out another record, their first in a few years. What you will find on this album is unbelievable song writing... songs that you will find yourself singing to in your car.

Move over Weezer... Watershed is back, and they are much better than you are.

It's time for the Radio gods to give the boys in the Shed a chance... once's it's played, it will sell, and sell a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Rock and Roll, August 10, 2003

If Buddy Holly were making music today, he would sound exactly like Watershed! They are the quintessential rock and roll band. I just wish there were more bands like them. Just like The More It Hurts... all of their albums display the best in feel good, have fun, sway with your friends, good music. If it weren't for Watershed I would have given up on music altogether. Way to go!

4.0 out of 5 stars *Now* I'm a fan..., December 9, 2002

Apart from the moderate liking of "Black Concert T-Shirt" back in the mid 90's, I was never an overly big fan of Watershed. Occasionally they'd release a recording to local radio that was generally unimpressive, although never objectionable. But after hearing the surprisingly phenominal songs "Can't Be Myself" and "Anniversary" on the radio, I found myself getting this CD. And I'm glad I did. An amazing collection of indie rock (rather than "Melodic hook filled power pop" as described above) where every song is unique rather than being a rehash of the same song over and over. Not every song hits the mark, but nearly all of them do -- and it makes for a CD you'll be singing to in no time. Take it from someone who owns over 200 CD's (nearly all of which are small and indie bands) -- and therefore someone who's extremely critical about new music -- this is a CD to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockativity In Spades, August 28, 2002

What a great record. Unlike so many releases this year, The More It Hurts The More It Works delivers the rock. It kicks you in your face, then cradles you as if to say everything is going to fine, only to blast you again with crushing 4x4 time. It's a well-balanced album that I can't stop listening to. If you gotta rock, you gotta get this ablum.

Give this band a listen. Look for their newest cd (Fifth of July). Very, very good.
