5.0 out of 5 stars Great characters meet to create a warm and heartugging story, November 27, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: One More Knight (Silhouette Intimate Moments, No. 890) (Paperback)
As a kid Charly Phelps had a reputation for trouble. But when she returned to her childhood home after twenty years, even Charly couldn't have expected the trouble she found herself in. She smashed her car into a tree, was set up on a drunk driving charge and thrown in jail, and finally found herself being bailed out by do-gooder, knight in disguise...and total stranger, Troy Starr.

Although One More Knight is dusted with humor, the book follows Charly as she faces the pain of meeting the son she had given up for adoption those twenty years ago, confronting the very difficult relationship between her and her father, and reconciling her growing feelings for Troy, who represented everything she had come to despise.

One More Knight is a warm and well crafted story. Ms. Creighton has a real talent for using language to set the tone. That along with characters that the reader cares about and a plot that is both funny and heart tugging at the same time make One More Knight one that you won't want to miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC characterizations -- another GREAT Creighton read!, November 22, 1998
This review is from: One More Knight (Silhouette Intimate Moments, No. 890) (Paperback)
ONE MORE KNIGHT, the newest of Kathleen Creighton's long-running string of books with Silhouette, is also one of her best. As always, a solid, gripping read right from page one. The characterizations (particularly the heroine, whose teenage diary had me in tears at one point -- you'll know when you get there) are strong, believable and so real as to make you look twice in a mirror -- and then sigh...

Heroes? Well, yeah, all Kathleen's men are, but they're also several steps past the 'strong silent' stereotype that's plagued contemporary romance (unfairly!) for the past two decades. These men are REAL -- slobbery dogs and all.

Add a terrific grabber-of-a plot (a hallmark of Creighton novels), punches of humor and solid excellence in writing (no hackneyed cliches for this lady!) -- and you've got another in a long string of Creighton WINNERS.

This author ranks up there with the best of Sandra Brown and Nora Roberts -- looking for much more of her work in the future (any break-outs into single titles? hope so!). This is one I'll keep (with all the other Creighton novels) on the shelf permanently.

Thanks, Kathleen! -- TERRIFIC WORK!
